Audi A6 e-tron
As the second model on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), the Audi A6 e-tron continues the PPE’s familiar product strengths of performance, range, efficiency, and charging. It is also the platform’s first model with a flat floor concept. The exterior is powerful, sporty, and perfectly proportioned. The interior exemplifies Audi's new design philosophy.
Audi A6 Avant e-tron
As the second model on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), the Audi A6 e-tron carries forward the PPE’s familiar product strengths of performance, range, efficiency, and charging. The Avant is characterized by a flat roofline, with the D-pillar sloping sharply forward. An aluminum-look circumferential trim strip from the A-pillar to the roof spoiler is a new and unique selling point of the A6 Avant e-tron and creates a high recognition value.
Audi A6 Sportback e-tron
As the second model on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), the Audi A6 e-tron carries on the familiar product strengths of the PPE across performance, range, efficiency, and charging. The body's clean design is dynamic, elegant, and progressive. Like the other models, the slim daytime running lights and the wide grille make the A6 Sportback e-tron appear flat and broad on the road.
Three countries, one thousand kilometers, and pure electric power: a small group of journalists traveled through Denmark, Sweden, and Norway in the A6 Sportback e-tron performance. They drove the high-range Audi from Copenhagen to Bergen – through charming towns, over impressive bridges, and along breathtaking waterfalls, national parks, and fjords.
Scandinavia is the perfect place to experience the benefits of all-electric travel. The fast-charging infrastructure is well developed, and electric cars are sometimes allowed to use bus lanes and park for free. On this special journey, a small group of journalists find out that a Scandinavian road trip isn’t just great for driving, but the landscapes are stunning too. For our first stage, covering around 600 kilometers, we head eastward from Copenhagen over the world’s longest cable-stayed bridge and through the nearly four-kilometer-long Drogden Tunnel. After a good 470 kilometers, it’s time for a quick recharging break: the 350 kW fast-charging station feeds 27 kWh into the A6 e-tron’s battery in just seven minutes. The Audi cruises almost silently along the remaining 140 kilometers to Oslo – our day’s destination has been reached. On day two, the city highway gives way to well-developed country roads, which gradually become more winding and narrow – this is where the A6 e-tron can really show off its dynamic handling. “What an impressive driving experience!” says one of the participants. Hardangervidda Passage, the Vøringsfossen waterfall, and Eidfjord are simply hard to beat in terms of scenic beauty. One last quick charging stop at kilometer 855, and then the trip in the all-electric A6 continues towards Bergen – passing over the impressive 1,380-meter-long Hardanger Bridge and through the more than 7,700-meter-long Vallavik Tunnel.
When it comes to driving dynamics and ride quality, the Audi A6 e-tron is setting new standards in its class.
Specifically developed for the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), the front axle plays a major role in the A6 e-tron driving dynamics and makes the vehicle extremely agile. The optional adaptive air suspension with electronically controlled damping enables the vehicle to offer outstanding ride comfort and sporty handling at the same time. The Audi drive select efficiency mode is a special feature. In this mode, the suspension lowers the body by up to 20 millimeters (0.79 in) depending on the vehicle’s speed, thereby further improving aerodynamics. This can also be seen in the model family’s impressive ranges: the Audi A6 Sportback e-tron stands for high suitability for everyday use and, with a range of 756 kilometers (469.8 mi), is the range champion in its segment. Detailed information on the driving dynamics can be found in the BasicInfo for the A6 e-tron.
In this interview, exterior designers at Audi discuss developing the design for the Audi A6 e-tron series Sascha Heyde and Wolf Seebers reveal how they brought their visionary concepts to series production Wolf Seebers remembers: “I still get goosebumps when I think about it.”
They live next door to each other, with garages adjacent, and that is where they love spending their time together. Sascha Heyde and Wolf Seebers are car guys through and through and have been friends for 20 years – and as Audi exterior designers, they shaped the A6 e-tron family together. They first revealed their vision in the stunning A6 e-tron concept and A6 Avant e-tron concept; now, they have brought the design and technology of these vehicles to series production. But how does one make one’s ideal a reality? A conversation about and with two real brothers of design.
Mr. Heyde and Mr. Seebers, the story of the Audi A6 e-tron began with two show cars. Do we still need concepts today? Sascha Heyde: We think of concepts as visions unbridled. Free and uncompromising in terms of their conception and implementation. We live in a unique age for automotive design. The importance of sustainable solutions, suitability for everyday use, personal freedom, and the evolution of Audi’s high-performance and premium quality DNA for the electric age – design can take many approaches to help shape this transition. Concepts let us quickly and systematically break down old barriers, create new worlds, and look for answers. They are leaders in innovation, representing a vision of design and new technologies.
