More convenient, faster, contactless: Audi integrates new apps for parking, charging, and fueling

Intelligent networking makes driving more comfortable, efficient and safer. That is Audi's goal in the digitalization of the vehicle. With immediate effect, the brand is adding two services to its app portfolio – already featuring offerings from partners across entertainment, gaming, and music – with two services that contribute to this orientation. “EasyPark” makes paying for parking effortless, while “ryd” handles fueling, charging and even car washes – all from the comfort of the car. Audi enhances voice control in current and future models with ChatGPT

Audi is implementing the AI-based chatbot ChatGPT via Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service in its infotainment system to enhance its vehicles' voice control capabilities. From July this year, owners of around two million Audi models made since 2021 and equipped with the third-generation modular infotainment system (MIB 3) will be able to interact with their car using natural language and listen to the information they would like to know while driving. New vehicles such as the Q6 e-tron and future models with the E3 1.2 electronics architecture will receive ChatGPT via Cerence Chat Pro as an extension of the Audi assistant.

Audi is integrating YouTube, the world’s largest video platform, into selected models’ infotainment systems. By embedding a new app store, customers can intuitively access popular third-party apps through the Multimedia Interface (MMI) via a data link in the vehicle. Edge Cloud 4 Production: IT-based factory automation enters series production

Audi has been testing the local server solution Edge Cloud 4 Production (EC4P), a new method of IT-based factory automation, at Böllinger Höfe since July 2022. Starting in July 2023, this paradigm shift in Audi’s shop floor IT will be used for the first time in series production. At Böllinger Höfe, a local server cluster will control the worker support systems for two production cycles of the Audi e-tron GT quattro, RS e-tron GT, and Audi R8 models. In the future, the software-controlled, flexible, and scalable server solution will replace the decentralized control system that relies on high-maintenance industrial PCs. EC4P allows Audi to redeploy the computing power the production line requires to local data processing centers. In addition to this first application in series production, Audi is simultaneously adapting EC4P for other use cases in the Audi Production Lab (P-Lab).
