    Seven Audi R8 LMS at the 24-hour anniversary race

    Just in time for the 50th edition of the world’s biggest endurance race, Audi Sport customer racing is ready for the next challenge with a full dozen race cars in various series and classes. Since its first victory in 2012, the Audi R8 LMS has been the most successful race car in this period at the Nürburgring 24 Hours. From May 26 to 29, Audi will be competing for the overall classification but also for successes in the Pro-Am category, in the TCR class as well as in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup, which is staging its second event.

    Strong teams and 14 drivers from Audi Sport at the Nürburgring 24 Hours

    Audi Sport customer racing is concentrating its efforts on two teams in the sporting competition for the sixth overall victory at the Nürburgring 24 Hours. Audi Sport Team Car Collection and Audi Sport Team Phoenix will each field an Audi R8 LMS on behalf of the brand from May 25 to 29. In addition, private GT3 race cars strengthen the line-up.

    Little reward for comeback race from Audi

    In one of the most turbulent editions of the Nürburgring 24 Hours with more than 14 hours of race interruption in dense fog, Audi Sport customer racing thrilled everyone with a strong recovery. However, there was hardly any reward in the end. From 64th place at the start of the race, Audi Sport Team Land fought its way back to the leading group but did not see the finish after an accident by Kelvin van der Linde. The best Audi R8 LMS in the end was fielded by Audi Sport Team Car Collection. From 25th place after an early tire change, the number 2 Audi improved to fifth place.

    Audi at the biggest motorsport festival of the year

    The Nürburgring 24 Hours from June 3 to 6 is one of the most important races of the year for Audi Sport customer racing: With a track length of 25 kilometers, a 24-hour race duration and more than 120 participants, it is the race of superlatives worldwide. Audi Sport has clinched five victories with the R8 LMS at the endurance classic since 2012. At the same time, the legendary Nordschleife is the venue for a demanding baptism of fire this time: The second generation of the Audi RS 3 LMS makes its race debut at the Nürburgring in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup.

    Promising line-up from Audi at the Nürburgring

    At the Nürburgring 24 Hours from June 3 to 6, Audi Sport customer racing sets its sights on its sixth overall victory. In addition, the chances of equaling or even surpassing the distance record set by Audi in 2014 are good this year. Three strong driver squads with twelve professionals, including nine previous winners, share the work in the cockpits of the three Audi R8 LMS cars fielded by Audi Sport customer racing. The private teams Car Collection Motorsport and Phoenix Racing are also preparing up to four additional private Audi R8 LMS cars.
