Pirelli World Challenge 2017

Audi Sport has been active in international GT3 racing since 2009 and is ranking among the global players in this growth market. Audi Sport customer racing is responsible for the brand’s customer racing program. It is firmly rooted on four continents, has won dozens of international titles and long achieved three-digit production figures. Audi Sport has produced more than 200 R8 LMS cars to date. The Audi RS 3 LMS has been meeting with tremendous response by customers in TCR touring car racing and the new Audi R8 LMS GT4 perfectly fills the gap in between.

    Disappointment for Audi in Nürburgring 24 Hours

    In the 46th running of the Nürburgring 24 Hours, the Eifel region revealed itself at its worst: Audi Sport customer racing had traveled to the world’s biggest automobile race as title defenders, but together with its customer teams suffered some bitter setbacks in the battle for its fifth overall victory. In the end, sixth position by Kelvin van der Linde/Sheldon van der Linde/Christopher Mies/René Rast was the best result in an event in which changeable weather conditions caused the race to be interrupted three and a half hours before the end. The teams contested the final part of the race only after more than a one-hour break.

    Audi Sport customer racing is celebrating its tenth anniversary. Following the presentation of the first generation of the Audi R8 LMS in 2008, the first customers relied on the GT3 sports car the following season – and immediately clinched three driver championship titles. To date, the number of these successes has increased to 52 around the world, plus other class titles have been won and victories scored in 12-, 24- and even 25-hour races.     Audi teams ready for WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup premiere

    Four factory-supported Audi R8 LMS with strong driver line-up in 24 Hours Nürburgring

    Coupe du Roi and sixth consecutive podium finish for Audi

    Fans of the 24 Hours of Spa saw one of the most exciting ever editions of the endurance classic. Audi was among the small group of favorites as the race entered its final quarter, but ultimately it was lady luck that decided the outcome. Four brands fought for victory in the closing stages, before a tire failure robbed Audi Sport Team Phoenix of any chance of victory. In the end, Audi Sport Team WRT from Belgium staged a strong fightback to grab a trophy for Audi. Nico Müller (CH), René Rast (D) and Laurens Vanthoor (B) finished third, while Audi won the “Coupe du Roi” manufacturers’ classification.

    Audi aims to repeat 24-hour victory at the Nürburgring

    The biggest racing spectacle in Germany has upped the ante once more. For the first time, Audi will be present with nine R8 LMS cars in the field of the Nürburgring 24 Hours (May 28/29). This means that in the race held in the Eifel more customers than ever before are relying on the GT3 sports car with the four rings. Television partner RTL Nitro will be airing coverage of the racing marathon for nearly 26 hours – another first.
