The Le Mans winning cars of AUDI AG

AUDI AG has been involved in the 24 Hours of Le Mans since 1999. Rarely in the past has an automobile manufacturer been so successful at, quite possibly, the world's toughest car race. Six overall victories from eight starts – including the historical first win for a diesel powered car at Le Mans – is a more than an impressive résumé.

The unique winning streak of Audi sportscars at Le Mans is to be honoured in the future by a landmark situated at the heart of the circuit, and which will be inaugurated this coming Saturday shortly before the start of the 75th running of the 24 Hours. Dr Wolfgang Ullrich, Jean-Claude Plassart, President of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO), and an Audi factory driver will unveil the “Audi Tower” in the heart of the circuit’s “Village”.

The modern architecture of the twelve-metre high sculpture symbolises the Audi brand’s dynamic image. The tower reacts differently during the day and night. During the race, 24 rotating rings will illuminate between the base and top of the tower. A video-wall is mounted on the front side of the tower. The names of every winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans were engraved on a glass surface.
