Le Mans 2002
The three Le Mans winning Audis from 2002, 2001 and 2000

Audi, Ferrari and Peugeot have been honoured by the French specialist magazine “L´Automobile Magazine” for their outstanding achievements in motor racing at the headquarters of the French Automobile Club and the international federation FIA in Paris in front of numerous well-known members of the media and the motorsport business. All three car manufacturers achieved a hat-trick in motor racing over the past three years. Ferrari has won the Formula One World Championship three times, Peugeot three times the World Rally Championship for Manufacturers and Audi three consecutive Le Mans 24 Hour race victories.

Dr Werner Mischke, Board Member at AUDI AG, Technical Development, received the prestigious trophy in Paris, thanking the publishers and the editorial staff of “L´Automobile Magazine” for this important award.

At the wheel of their Infineon Audi R8, Audi “works” drivers Frank Biela, Tom Kristensen and Emanuele Pirro were the first driver combination to ever win the classic endurance race, held since 1923, three times in a row. The pictures of Emanuele Pirro standing in the cockpit of his Infineon Audi R8 while crossing the finish line this year, were again shown in Paris. Pirro, commenting on behalf of his team-mates, expressed his thanks for the award.
