Audi drivers test RS 5 DTM at Budapest

The winter break is finally over. Today, the eight Audi drivers start testing their RS5 DTM cars on the race track at Budapest. The first official ITR track tests in Hungary mark the beginning of the countdown to the DTM’s season opener at Hockenheim on May 4.

At the Hungaroring, Audi is presenting the liveries of the four Audi RS5 DTM cars driven by Mattias Ekström, Jamie Green, Miguel Molina and Timo Scheider to the public for the first time. The DTM fans will be seeing the two-time Champions sporting the same look as before. Ekström will be competing in a car featuring the colors of partner Red Bull for the 13th year, while Scheider’s black Audi RS 5 DTM is again emblazoned with the logo of the special-interest magazine AUTO TEST. The bright red of Miguel Molina’s car has remained as well. Jamie Green is starting his second season with Audi in 2014 in a car sporting the conspicuous colors of the new partner Hoffmann Group.

Four cars, eight drivers: The Audi drivers are sharing the testing time in the race cars at Budapest. Alongside his brand colleagues, DTM Champion Mike Rockenfeller is particularly thrilled to return to the cockpit. “My first winter as DTM Champion was a great time with many honors and interesting commitments. But now I can do again what I like best: sitting in the race car and working with my team. We’re finally on track again!”

While a part of the three Audi Sport Teams Abt Sportsline, Phoenix and Rosberg participates in the track tests, the other race cars are concurrently being assembled. From April 14 to 17, the drivers will be meeting for a second official ITR test at Hockenheim, which also serves as the ‘rehearsal’ for the first race weekend at the same venue.
