#StopHateForProfit
  • Audi stands for an open interaction with each other based on equality.
  • An environment of fake news or hate speech is therefore unacceptable to us.
  • That is why Audi and the entire Volkswagen Group are suspending central advertisements on Facebook. This includes Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp.
  • At the same time the Volkswagen Group, together with its long-standing partner, the Anti-Defamation League – one of the initiators of the "Stop Hate for Profit" campaign – and its advertising agencies are engaging with Facebook. When hate speech, discriminating comments and posts containing dangerous false information are published uncommented, then this must have consequences.
  • Therefore we will stay silent on Facebook until the discussions have found common ground.

    Update 08/03/20
  • As a result of the advertising boycott in July, Facebook has demonstrated openness and commitment to meet the majority of the global requests raised by the #StopHateForProfit initiative.
  • Volkswagen Group will continue to work with Facebook to monitor the progress against commitments, reserving the right to withdraw from Facebook again at any point in time should progress not be in line with commitments.
  •  As other companies will resume paid advertising as of August 1st, we will follow suit and relaunch our paid activities from August 5th
  • From an industry and advertisers’ perspective we clearly see some movement into the right direction.
