Apprentices build show car of the Audi RS Q e-tron

Nine Audi apprentices have lived up to the slogan “Vorsprung durch Technik” as part of an unusual training program. Over a period of five months, the Audi youngsters with a passion for vehicle construction and mechatronics planned, designed and, for the most part, built the Audi RS Q e-tron show car themselves. Through their work on the copy of the high-tech prototype for the 2022 Dakar Rally, the skilled workers of tomorrow already learned about the future of mobility. By competing in the world’s toughest cross-country rally, Audi primarily aims to test and further develop its e-tron technology under extreme conditions and at the same time be the first manufacturer to fight for overall victory with an electric drivetrain, energy converter and high-voltage battery on board. The young specialists received support, among others, from Audi Sport in Neuburg and the technical development department at Neckarsulm. Sabine Maaßen, Member of the Board of Management for Human Resources and Organization at AUDI AG, and Julius Seebach, Managing Director of Audi Sport GmbH and responsible for motorsport at Audi, also supported the apprentices as mentors. “I am always amazed at the commitment and expertise with which our apprentices at Audi go about their work. I’m now looking forward to the Dakar Rally even more,” said Maaßen.
