The Envision Virgin Racing team

In addition to its own factory-backed team, Audi Sport, in season six, again equips the British Envision Virgin Racing team with its newly developed Audi e-tron FE06 including the powertrain. 

The centerpiece of the new Audi e-tron FE06 is the powertrain around the Audi Schaeffler MGU04 motor-generator unit. Whereas the rest of the car is specified for all teams, the manufacturers prove their engineering expertise in the powertrain. The Formula E regulations require manufacturers to also make the entire car including the proprietary powertrain technology and related support available to other teams at a defined price. 

The Envision Virgin Racing team formed in 2014 has been a member of the Formula E family ever since the series’ inaugural race. The Briton Sam Bird has contested each of the first five seasons. Since the 2018/2019 season, Robin Frijns has been his teammate and instantly won two races. In 2018 and 2019, the Dutchman also competed for Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline in the DTM. Apart from Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler, Envision Virgin Racing is the only team that has won races in all five of the previous seasons and with a tally of ten victories and 25 podium finishes is one of the best outfits in the field.

The cooperation that began in 2018 does not end with the delivery of the race car. A sound competition between both teams will take place throughout the season in order to continuously raise the performance level.
