23 days to go until the 2006 DTM season opener at Hockenheim. For Keke Rosberg, this amounts to a homecoming in a way, although he has always been present in the DTM environment. The return of Audi Sport Team Rosberg, entering two Audi A4 DTM cars, for Frank Stippler and Timo Scheider, marks the DTM comeback of a team which is rich in tradition.

Following his Formula 1 and sportscar careers, Keke Rosberg personally participated in the DTM between 1992 and 1995 – first as a driver, then with a team of his own. As the new DTM was launched, from 2000, he and his team were part of the action again. At the same time, the Finn’s Formula 3 team was racing on the DTM weekends. There, Nico Rosberg, the son of the 1982 Formula 1 Champion, completed a crucial stage in his career in 2003 and 2004: He contested the Formula 3 Euro Series before ascending to Formula 1 via the GP2 series. With Williams, the 20-year-old talent is currently contesting his first Grand Prix season, having finished in the points as early as in his debut race. In Bahrain, on 12 March, the quick youngster holding both a German and a Finnish passport immediately claimed seventh place.

In the new DTM season Keke Rosberg’s team, with Audi, has good prerequisites for being successful in touring car racing yet again. The squad headed by Arno Zensen has the benefit of an ambitious driver pairing, Frank Stippler and Timo Scheider, as well as a car with a track record of winning races, the 2005-spec Audi A4 DTM.
