Leader of the standings Jamie Green in the Hoffmann Group Audi RS 5 DTM of Audi Sport Team Rosberg will start DTM race seven of the season at Zandvoort (the Netherlands) from the third row of the grid. In a close qualifying, the Briton in position six was the fastest Audi driver on Saturday afternoon.

“You can only make the best of your possibilities and we have clearly heavier cars here than BMW,” said the Briton, who was short barely four tenths of a second of clinching the top spot on the grid. “I’m pleased with the work in the team between free practice and qualifying. Balance was clearly better. I was a lot happier in the car. Unfortunately, on my second trial, I didn’t have a clear outlap. Here at Zandvoort, that’s a problem with the sand because the tires no longer have optimal grip in that case. I feel like I didn’t quite extract the optimum.”

The second-fastest Audi driver was Miguel Molina in the Teufel Audi RS 5 DTM of Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline in position ten. The other grid positions for Audi: 10, 11, 12, 13, 16, 19 and 21.

“That BMW are in front here doesn’t surprise us,” said Dieter Gass, Head of DTM at Audi Sport. “But I wouldn’t want to say that weight is the only factor. They seem to be very fast here anyhow – at least in qualifying. Now we need to wait and see how the race goes. 40 minutes here at Zandvoort are long.”
