Audi R8 LMS #5 (Scherer Sport PHX), Vincent Kolb/Alexander Sims/Frank Stippler/Renger van der Zande

The fastest Audi R8 LMS will start the 51st edition of the Nürburgring 24 Hours from grid row three on Saturday. Audi Sport driver Frank Stippler (#5) qualified for fifth place on the grid with Team Scherer Sport PHX. Two other Audi cars are also in the top ten: last year’s winner Frédéric Vervisch (#1) finished eighth for Audi Sport Team Scherer PHX. Fellow Audi Sport driver Markus Winkelhock is one position behind in the #16 Scherer Sport PHX car. 

The team from Meuspath had used Top Qualifying 1 with three cars at its home race to advance to the final Top Qualifying 2. In the first session, Scherer Sport PHX scored first place with Ricardo Feller (#16) and position 2 with Alexander Sims (#5). Audi Sport driver Mattia Drudi (#1) also advanced from this session into the final: the Italian was fifth for Audi Sport Team Scherer PHX.

Audi Sport Team Land (#39) had already qualified for top qualifying 2. Christopher Mies finished in 16th place, six positions behind Audi Sport junior driver Dennis Marschall (#22) from Audi Sport Team Car Collection. Mike Rockenfeller (#40) for Audi Sport Team Scherer PHX secured 28th place.
