One of Germany´s most successful racing drivers strengthens the Audi Team at the Le Mans 24 hour race again in 2000. Christian Abt (Betzigau, D) once again contests the French endurance classic in an Audi R8. "It makes me extremely proud to have received this offer from Audi," says the delighted German. "It means that next year I´ll be competing in a car with every possibility to win."

The 32-year-old has been with Audi Sport as test driver for years. "It´s not only his speed, but also his extensive technical knowledge that we appreciate," explains Audi sport´s boss Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich. "At his Le Mans debut this year Christian Abt greatly impressed us."

"This year Audi gave me the chance to gather experience in Le Mans," explains Christian Abt. "And now we can reap the rewards together next year."

Christian Abt gave ample proof of his driving ability over the 1999 season in the Germany Super Touringcar Championship (STW): With a privately-run Audi A4 quattro Abt secured the prestigious title. "This result against the strong works teams of Opel and Honda is a particularly superb achievement for the whole outfit," congratulates Dr. Ullrich.
