The new Audi R10 TDI was also the fastest car in the field in Saturday morning’s warm-up for the Le Mans 24 Hours. Setting the fastest time of 3m 33.946s was the #8 Audi R10 TDI (Frank Biela/Emanuele Pirro/Marco Werner). Allan McNish could complete only two slow laps with the “sister car” due to a transmission problem. The #7 Audi R10 TDI will be ready again in time for the start of the race at 1700 hrs.

Meanwhile, Audi Sport Team Joest has nominated the start drivers for the race: Allan McNish will start from pole position with the #7 car. Frank Biela will be at the wheel of the R10 TDI #8 at the beginning of the race.

During the race, driver changes are planned as follows:

Audi R10 TDI #7: Allan McNish > Dindo Capello > Tom Kristensen
Audi R10 TDI #8: Frank Biela > Marco Werner > Emanuele Pirro

At 1300 hrs, before the start of the race, which will be shown on TV in various countries live and in full length, Le Mans record winner Tom Kristensen will demonstrate his Siemens Audi A4 from the DTM to the spectators at the track. The most popular international Touring Car series will race for the first time at Le Mans on 15 October.
