The new 2018 version of the Audi RS 5 DTM completed the first test kilometers in Vallelunga in Italy. On Friday and on Saturday, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz prepared for the new season during a joint test on the track located 30 kilometers north of Rome. Jamie Green (GB) rang in the test days on Thursday afternoon by completing the roll-out and also carried out the work in the cockpit on Friday. On Saturday, defending DTM Champion René Rast (D) took over the DTM test car, with which Audi tested the new standard aerodynamic kit. DTM newcomer Robin Frijns (NL) also had two short outings in the race car. On both days, continuous rain initially caused frequent interruptions due to the tricky track conditions. Only on the first test day in the afternoon was it possible to drive longer stints on a dry track. “Despite the adverse weather conditions, and more specifically on Saturday, I’m generally satisfied with how the test went. We completed more than 200 laps, covering around 900 kilometers and generated a good data basis from which we can now setup our car step by step for the new aerodynamic configuration,” said DTM Project Leader Andreas Roos.
