The optionally available Black and Black Plus optics packages set striking accents in the exterior around the Audi Singleframe, the trim on the side windows, and the front and rear bumpers. The newly designed headlights featuring HD Matrix LED technology with lasers as an additional beam light as well as the digital daytime running lights positioned on the upper horizontal edge give the Q7 an even more powerful expression. In combination with the digital OLED rear lights, which are available for the Q7 for the first time, the premium-class character of the model becomes even clearer. Customizability at its best: Headlights and rear lights High-intensity LED headlights light up the road in the Q7 as standard; Matrix LED headlights are available as an option. HD Matrix LED headlights with the Audi laser light are also available. They work with 24 LEDs and a high-power laser diode each and are immediately recognizable via a blue ambient light incorporated into the headlights that symbolizes the precision of laser technology. The laser light becomes active above 70 km/h (43.5 mph) and significantly increases the high beam range. New for the top-of-the-range headlights are digital daytime running light signatures. They give the Q7 its characteristic and unmistakable appearance by allowing the user to select one of four various light signatures via the MMI. However, not just the headlights’ extended range of functions is new, so is their design. The higher position of the daytime running lights gives the Q7 a wider appearance and more expressiveness. For the first time, the Q7 also features largely digitalized OLED rear lights (OLED = organic light emitting diode) as an optional extra, which also feature four digital light signatures.
Victories in motorsport underline the brand’s sportiness 150 years of the traditional brand: Series with classics and one-of-a-kinds from NSU’s model history – Episode 8
Siegfried Spiess, Günther Irmscher, or Wilhelm “Willi” Bergmeister – fans of the traditional brand NSU will be familiar with these names. In the 1960s and 1970s, the Neckarsulm-based company offered small but powerful cars for everyday use as well as for sports. First came the NSU Prinz 1000, followed by the NSU TT and the NSU TTS. In this eighth episode of the NSU anniversary series, Audi Tradition makes a foray into this very sporty chapter of NSU history.
At the 1963 IAA, NSU unveiled several new models. In addition to the stylish NSU/Wankel Spider, the NSU Prinz 1000 also made its debut. The small and lively car was well received by both the media and the public, as it offered unprecedented handling in its class due to its exceptional power-to-weight ratio. The new series, with its modern four-cylinder engines, marked NSU’s entry into the mid-size segment. Demand for NSU cars, especially for the new car affectionately called the “Tausender” (German: thousand) by fans, grew – as did the Neckarsulm plant: NSU built a new factory on an area of 10,000 square meters with space for six assembly lines. The first Prinz models rolled off the line in early April 1964, and by the end of the month, NSU dealerships from all over Germany had ordered a total of 1,150 NSU Prinz 1000s from Neckarsulm. From 1964 to 1972, the Neckarsulm-based company made a total of around 195,000 Prinz 1000 L and S and NSU 1000 C units, as well as another 11,500 NSU Prinz 1000 TTs. The sporty NSU Prinz 1000 ensures a winning streak for Siegfried Spiess The NSU Prinz 1000 came as standard with a 40 or 43 PS engine, depending on the model version.
Electronically controlled air suspension with a continuously adaptive damping system – adaptive air suspension or adaptive air suspension sport (standard equipment on the SQ8 TFSI ) – can be selected as optional equipment. In addition, optional all-wheel steering (standard equipment on the SQ8 TFSI ) ensures an increased level of safety and comfort. At low speeds, the back wheels turn up to five degrees in the opposite direction to the front wheels. This reduces the turning radius, by up to one meter (3.3 ft), and increases manageability. At the same time, the driver feels more comfort and benefits from improved stability at higher speeds because the back wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels. To improve the Q8’s handling in everyday situations such as maneuvering in parking lots, parking garages, or a home garage, the steering system has been optimized for greater ease. The right choice for every situation: the powertrains The range opens with the 45 TDI quattro, a three-liter diesel engine that has 170 kW (231 PS) of output and delivers an impressive 500 Nm of torque, which extends over a plateau between 1,500 and 3,000 rpm.

The NSU Prinz: the first post-war car made in Neckarsulm 150 years of NSU: Audi Tradition launches its ten-part series with classics and one-offs from NSU’s diverse model range.
The traditional NSU brand, celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2023, represents transformation. This is best exemplified in the 1950s by the compact NSU Prinz. In 1955, NSU was the largest employer in the Neckarsulm region and the industry leader as the world’s largest manufacturer of two-wheeled vehicles. But demand for motorcycles was in decline: As prosperity grew, so did people’s desire for a “roof over their heads” – they wanted to drive cars. So NSU reinvented itself, launching a successful comeback as a car manufacturer with the NSU Prinz in 1958. In this first episode of the history of NSU, Audi Tradition presents “the Prince”.
It is the time of the Miracle on the Rhine: After the devastation of World War II, the 1950s see Germany’s economy pick up again. Incomes are rising, and more and more people can afford a car. At NSU, however, the transition from two to four wheels was not immediate; initially, the development division experimented with a three-wheeler called the Max Kabine. The name was derived from an NSU motorcycle, the NSU Max. But the Max Kabine prototype’s performance in test drives was not promising and so, at the end of 1955, NSU management instead gave the green light for the compact car project. Expanding a two-wheeler factory into an automobile plant is quite a feat – in organizational as well as financial terms. But thanks to a bank loan of around 30 million marks at the time, and a guarantee, granted by the state of Baden-Wurttemberg, NSU was able to complete the plant as planned. All the while, a development team was working on the new car project. As early as mid-1956, the first three prototypes of the new NSU car took to the road for testing and were ready for series production just one year later.

Bentley Motors today revealed record financial results for 2022, with operating profits up nearly €1 billion compared to 2018. The latest annual figures show a profit of €708 million, representing an 82 per cent growth in profit from a four per cent growth in volume. Turnover reached €3.38 billion, up 19 per cent over the same period. The announcement follows record sales in 2022, when Bentley delivered 15,174 extraordinary cars – the first time it has retailed more than 15,000 cars in a year. This rapid financial transformation of the company underpins a future investment programme unrivalled in the luxury car sector, enabling Bentley to revolutionise from the world’s biggest 12-cylinder engine producer to an all-electric car company within a decade. Return on sales climbed to 20.9 per cent in 2022, an impressive rise from 13.7 per cent in 2021 and the highest in Bentley’s 104-year history. The increase was due to customers choosing higher specification derivatives, higher option uptake and the sale of Limited Editions and Coachbuilt collectibles. Adrian Hallmark, Chairman and CEO of Bentley Motors, commented: “Since the low point of 2018, the whole team at Crewe has been working intensively to restructure the business model, in parallel with launching successive segment leading new models and features. Last year marked a milestone in this journey.
Even NSU’s name is closely associated with Neckarsulm, as the company name is derived from the city on the Neckar and Sulm rivers. NSU impressively demonstrates the development of mobility – from bicycles and motorcycles to automobiles. For its 150th anniversary, Audi Tradition is bringing out a number of NSU highlights from its historical vehicle collection. The special exhibition “Innovation, audacity and transformation”, a cooperation project between Audi Tradition and the German Bicycle and NSU Museum (Deutsches Zweirad- und NSU-Museum), is also under construction. The exhibition will be on display at the Audi Forum in Neckarsulm and at the German Bicycle and NSU Museum in Neckarsulm starting on June 14.
“There are so many stories to tell from the long history of NSU,” said Tobias Fräbel, an employee at Audi Tradition responsible for the corporate archives of the Neckarsulm site and the NSU brand. “Since we can’t tell all the stories in just one text, Audi Tradition will offer stories and background information about the company, its products, its involvement in racing and much more throughout the year.” These posts can be found on Audi Tradition’s Instagram channel and in the Audi MediaCenter. There, Audi Tradition will launch a ten-part series. From March to December, one NSU model will be introduced every month – from the brand’s classics, whether they have two or four wheels, to prototypes and exotic models. If that’s not enough for you, you can naturally delve even deeper into the moving, multifaceted history of the traditional brand – for instance, through Klaus Arth’s Audi Tradition book “NSU-Automobile. Typen – Technik – Modelle”, published by Delius Klasing, or Peter Schneider’s book “Die NSU-Story”, published by Motorbuch-Verlag.
