Environmental Declaration 2023
Economical use of resources Two heating stations, a combined cooling, heat and power plant and the connection to a district heating line cover heating requirements. The site has two large water treatment plants. Wastewater polluted due to industrial activity (mainly from the paint shop) is pretreated in a chemical/physical system in such a way that it can be further treated via a membrane bioreactor and a reverse osmosis system in partial current operation and the majority can be reused in the plant as process water. In the second plant, rainwater and slightly polluted wastewater from the cooling tower systems are treated chemically and physically so that the water can be reused in the plant. The feasibility of further projects for saving energy is being studied. These include the “use of pioneering renewable energies.” Other studies prepared by Audi include one examining heat supply with renewable raw materials. However, they also include practical trials of innovative technologies. Audi has installed photovoltaic modules on an area spanning roughly 23,000 square meters on the Ingolstadt plant premises.

This figure measures the CO₂ emissions generated during the production of purchased energy (electricity, heating, cooling). These emissions account for a significant portion of Scope 2 according to GHG Protocol. The goal is for all Audi sites² to be net carbon- neutral¹ by 2025. This includes CO₂ emissions generated directly at the site (Scope 1)³ and indirect CO₂ emissions from energy procured through external suppliers (Scope 2).⁴ The reported figures in the diagram establish the amount of CO₂ emissions already saved at the sites by using renewable and low CO₂ energy sources in relation to theoretical maximum CO₂ emissions based on an energy supply that relies solely on fossil energy sources. This is calculated by dividing the overall energy consumption of car and component plants by the number of cars built at the sites. ⁶ Total energy consumption: this figure is made up of electricity and heat consumption as well as the use of fuel gases for production processes and externally supplied refrigeration at the plant. ⁷ The process of selecting relevant emissions and the emission factors applied are anchored – like the entire key figure collection process – in the Volkswagen standard 98000. Generally, Audi uses the real emission factors of the energy suppliers. If this is not possible, calculations are conducted on the basis of the VDA’s standard factors. ⁸ This figure is a forecast for the year as the measure was introduced during the year. The forecast is based on planned production in 2023 at the Audi Brussel site. It is dependent on fluctuations in the production program at the site.

A larger interior with a sporty dashboard, elaborate seats and spacious storage compartments, adjustable side windows and an effective ventilation and heating system guaranteed a comfortable, relaxing drive. From the outside, the Prinz 1000 could be identified by its oval headlights, its side air intake, the new design of the rear lights and acoustically from the “rounded” tone of the newly developed, extremely lively, aircooled four-cylinder engine. The drive unit was a perfect example of modern engine design with an overhead camshaft, a crankshaft with five cylinders mounted along it, hardened cylinder linings and a fully synchronised four-speed gearbox. Audi Tradition 20 Anniversary Dates 2023 New products presented at Frankfurt IMS – DKW F 12 und DKW F 12 Roadster In January 1963, Auto Union GmbH Ingolstadt rolled out the DKW F 12 as the successor to the DKW Junior de Luxe. The new model was in the spotlight in September 1963 at the Frankfurt International Motor Show. As well as having a more spacious body, unlike its predecessor the F 12 had an engine that had been enlarged from 800 cc to 900 cc and delivered 40 hp in the production version. It is particularly worth highlighting the use of disc brakes on the front axle, which was a first for a car in this class. Customers were now also able to order the F 12 with a gearbox featuring an integrated freewheel on request. After Auto Union GmbH was taken over by Volkswagen at the end of 1964, production of the DKW F 12 stopped on 3 April 1965. To provide work for the plants, production of the VW Beetle began at the Auto Union plant in Ingolstadt just one month later. 60 years Audi Tradition 21 Anniversary Dates 2023 A convertible version of the DKW F 12 was also on display at the Auto Union stand in autumn 1963. The development work had been done by the bodywork company Baur in Stuttgart, which also supplied the full soft top as a complete module.

The heat required for production is provided by a combined heat-and-power plant fired with biogas. ¹ Audi RS e-tron GT: combined electric power consumption in kWh/100 km: 20.2–19.3 (NEDC), 22.6–20.6 (WLTP); combined CO₂ emissions in g/km: 0. When Felix Neureuther pulls the cable out of his Audi RS e-tron GT¹ in his garage after charging, he flashes a beaming smile that could even outshine the gleaming black and gray wall box. Charging with green electricity Audi is well aware that electric driving is only as “green” as the electricity used. That is why the company is supporting customers in producing as little CO₂ as possible throughout the utilization phase of their electric models. Audi has a range of offers designed to make charging easy and, with renewable energy, environmentally friendly for as many customers as possible. Since most charging takes place at home, the Four Rings offer wall boxes that can be operated absolutely carbon neutrally, in conjunction with green electricity provider Elli, for example.

An oil-heated tubular steam boiler delivered steam pressure of up to 300 atm. The two-cylinder steam engine was flanged directly onto the rear axle without any gearbox. All development work was stopped in 1921, with two vehicles continuing to operate at the plant until 1923. All that remained of the steam-powered car project was the registered word mark “DKW”, which was used in the following decades for all two-wheeled and fourwheeled DKW vehicles that had a two-stroke internal combustion engine. DKW steam-powered cars 105 years Audi Tradition 21 Anniversary Dates 2022 115 Founding of Zschopauer Motorenwerke After his engineering degree, which he completed in Mittweida and Zwickau, Jörgen Skafte Rasmussen, who was born in Denmark, set up his own company manufacturing parts for steam units in Chemnitz in 1904. On 14 October 1906 he acquired a cloth factory in Zschopau in the Ore Mountains which he initially had converted for the purpose of manufacturing the parts mentioned above. Production began on 18 January 1907; the company was registered in the commercial register of the town of Zschopau on 13 April 1907. During the First World War, Rasmussen worked to develop a steam-powered car (Dampfkraftwagen in German), from which the three letters DKW were derived and which went on to become famous around the world as the product name for Zschopauer Motorenwerke. After the First World War, the Zschopau-based company focused on developing the two-stroke engine which was initially used to assist bicycles, but from 1922 was then employed in the DKW motorcycles. years Audi Tradition 22 Anniversary Dates 2022 Pikes Peak – the 4,301 m high mountain in the US state of Colorado – has staged what is probably the most famous mountain race in America since 1916. Audi has made racing history here too. The spectators at Pikes Peak first saw an Audi in action in 1984 when Michèle Mouton secured victory in the rally car class driving the Audi Sport quattro.
