In addition, the environmental declaration provides information on current developments. Environmental Declaration 2023 Environmental Declaration 2023 4 Environmental Declaration 2023 5 Content Dear Readers, This declaration contains a lot of good developments in a nutshell: In our Environmental Declaration 2023, we have summarized our environmental protection activities at the sites and demonstrate that we are doing everything in our power to make our operations more sustainable and environmentally friendly in line with our Audi strategy. The last year was extremely challenging. The effects of climate change are becoming increasingly obvious and require prompt innovative solutions to reduce or avoid the use of fossil energy sources. Additionally, the war in Ukraine disrupted the supply security of important resources over night and massively increased the prices of all processes and materials along the value chain. As a leading car maker, we are aware of our responsibility and do our best to minimize the effects of our vehicles and production on the environment and decrease the use of resources continuously. Even in these challenging times, Audi is holding on to the goal of achieving net carbon-neutral production* at all its own sites, and thus also at the Ingolstadt site, by 2025. The Mission:Zero environmental program that was initiated for this purpose paves the way toward more sustainable production and logistics.

We are already producing several fully electric models today, such as the Audi Q6 e-tron in Ingolstadt, the Audi Q8 e-tron⁵ in Brussels (Belgium) and the Audi e-tron GT⁸ at Böllinger Höfe near Neckarsulm. In addition, there is the electric drive production facility in Győr (Hungary), where more than 400,000 electric drive systems have been produced since 2018. And since 2021, the Audi Q4 e-tron family has been rolling off the production line at the Volkswagen multi-brand plant in Zwickau – in the familiar Audi premium quality. The goal is for all of our Audi plants to produce at least one electric model by the end of the decade. We have a highly motivated production team to tackle the challenges of electrification and have decided to use and transform our existing global production network. That saves resources and makes us more flexible. In Ingolstadt, for example, we have integrated the Audi Q6 e-tron into existing structures of the assembly line for the Audi A4 and Audi A5. As early as 2025, two out of four model series built there will be fully electric. An important building block is to further optimize our production processes. We have set ourselves the goal of doubling the flexibility of our production system by 2033 and cutting our global factory costs in half on average. We will also continue to minimize our environmental impact and improve our attractiveness as an employer. Because one thing is clear: the transformation to electric mobility will only work if we can rely on our highly qualified employees. San José Chiapa 100% 60% 75% 100% 75% The year 2022 was a challenging year for the global Mission:Zero team led by Dr. Achim Diehlmann and especially for the experts in the “Decarbonization” action area. Markus Faigl, Head of the “Decarbonization of sites” action area: “The war in Ukraine is also impacting our work. It was a new experience for us to face the question of whether we would actually be supplied with gas. In response to this energy crisis, we developed contingency plans and had to revise our existing energy supply concepts.” ² Audi plants in: Brussels (Belgium), Neckarsulm and Ingolstadt and (Germany), Győr (Hungary) and San José Chiapa (Mexico). ³ Scope 1: direct CO₂ emissions. This figure is made up of CO₂ emissions generated by the use of fuel at the plant and CO₂ emissions produced by the operation of test rigs. These emissions account for a significant portion of Scope 1 according to GHG Protocol. ⁴ Scope 2: indirect CO₂ emissions. This figure measures the CO₂ emissions generated during the production of purchased energy (electricity, heating, cooling). These emissions account for a significant portion of Scope 2 according to GHG Protocol. The goal is for all Audi sites² to be net carbon- neutral¹ by 2025. This includes CO₂ emissions generated directly at the site (Scope 1)³ and indirect CO₂ emissions from energy procured through external suppliers (Scope 2).⁴ The reported figures in the diagram establish the amount of CO₂ emissions already saved at the sites by using renewable and low CO₂ energy sources in relation to theoretical maximum CO₂ emissions based on an energy supply that relies solely on fossil energy sources.

All the CO₂ emissions that cannot be prevented in the supply chain and in the production of the Audi Q4 e-tron, despite the measures that have now been implemented, are offset through climate protection projects before dealerships in Europe and the United States hand over the vehicles to customers. metric tons of CO₂ are prevented at the Audi sites in Ingolstadt, Neckarsulm, Győr and the multi-brand site in Bratislava thanks to a closed-loop aluminum process that Audi has been using since 2017. This process was introduced at the Hungarian plant in Győr in 2021. The reduction in CO 2 was achieved by collecting aluminum waste during the production process and returning it to the supplier. It is then used to produce new aluminum coils of the same quality that Audi then reintroduces into the production process. This closed material loop reduces primary aluminum consumption. Thanks to the reprocessing of aluminum waste collected during production without any loss of quality, cars produced at the Ingolstadt, Neckarsulm, Győr and Bratislava sites start their life cycle with a far better carbon, energy and raw material profile than cars manufactured exclusively from primary aluminum. 195,000 A net total of more than is the binary code for the word Audi. Audi therefore fulfilled the two new UNECE directives relating to the management system at an early stage.
