At EuroSpeedway, Audi works driver Mattias Ekström received prominent support from his homeland: prior to the race, Swedish singer Ana Johnsson visited the current DTM Champion at Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline’s pit garage. “Of course I’m keeping my fingers crossed for my compatriot in particular,” said Ana Johnsson, whose smash hit, “Coz I Can” is the official song of the 2005 DTM.
On Saturday evening, Mattias Ekström yet again proved his ability to move anything at high speed that is powered by an engine: in the slot car race staged at Audi’s Team & Media Hospitality area the Audi driver clocked the best time. Ekström’s mother Agneta had fun with the miniature, 1:32 scale Audi A4 DTM car as well.
Anyone looking for Reinhold Joest at the EuroSpeedway Paddock was looking in vain: on Thursday, Audi Sport Team Joest’s Team Director had unluckily slipped and fallen, causing him to sustain a splintered fracture of his left wrist that required surgery on Friday. The whole Audi squad wishes him a speedy recovery.
At the Motorsport Day in Frankfurt/Oder, Audi driver Pierre Kaffer met a deaf fan, Eric Schuhr, and spontaneously invited him to the EuroSpeedway – including a pit lane visit and “seat-fitting” in the Audi A4 DTM.
On Thursday, a yellow Audi RS 4 aroused a lot of attention at EuroSpeedway. At the wheel was Allan McNish, who was testing the new Audi for “DTM Magazine“.
