Between the two DTM races at the EuroSpeedway and Istanbul, Audi factory drivers Christian Abt, Tom Kristensen and Martin Tomczyk together with Audi Head of Motorsport Dr Wolfgang Ullrich and a group of journalists paid a visit to the “Oktoberfest” in Munich. The absolute highlight of their tour round the “Wies’n” fairgrounds was driving the dodgem cars – sporting the colours of current DTM car liveries – operated by Distel, a company from Rosenheim (Bavaria).

The top one hundred German Audi new-car salesmen received awards from Ralph Weyler, Board Member for Marketing and Sales of AUDI AG, at the Sultan’s Palace in Istanbul on Saturday evening. On Sunday, the salesmen witnessed the DTM race at Istanbul and were able to take an in-depth look behind the scenes of the DTM during a tour of the pitlane.

As well as Ralph Weyler, Dr Jochem Heizmann, Board Member for Production of AUDI AG, attended the DTM race at Istanbul Park.

Martin Tomczyk’s mechanics decided to play a practical joke on their driver on Friday: they stuck Turkish flags on the side windows of Tomczyk’s Audi A4 DTM and changed his name to “Tömözyk”.

Guests of Audi at the DTM’s Turkish debut included cabaret artist and comedian Django Asul.
