The first small victory this weekend has already been achieved by the crews of Audi Sport and Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline: Right on time for the beginning of the warm-up at Brands Hatch, Heinz-Harald Frentzen’s Veltins Audi A4 was back on its wheels – completely ready for racing. In a repair effort that was no mean feat and took a total of 16 hours the car was prepared again almost completely from scratch after the accident in the qualifying practice.

The team had to exchange the left-hand suspension components entirely. Any damage to carbon parts was repaired with painstaking attention to detail, and the Audi A4 DTM received a complete set of new body parts on all sides as well. In addition, the crew performed the tedious job of removing dust and gravel from the cockpit area. Also, small stones from the gravel trap, which might have gotten into the engine during the accident, had initially concerned Audi Sport. For this reason, the powerplant was checked carefully. Shortly after nine o’clock on Sunday morning the engine was running again ...

Heinz-Harald Frentzen, who will start from position three, now knows what is at stake. “The boys did a fantastic job. It was great seeing how all team members lent each other a helping hand,“ said the former Formula 1 driver and announced, “This much is clear: If I clinch a Cup today, its place will be in my team’s garage.“
