ALMS 2000
Allan McNish in the Audi R8 #77

After taking a solid 1-2 victory at Sears Point, the Audi drivers continue to set the pace at Mosport. Frank Biela und Rinaldo Capello recorded the fastest times during the first qualifying session for the sixth round of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) on Friday, both braking the official track record.

The final qualifying on the former Canadian Grand Prix circuit starts on Saturday at 14:15 hrs.

Quotes after first qualifying

Frank Biela (#78):
„At Sears Point we did not look so well compared to our teammates. So it is a great feeling having set the fastest time today.”

Rianaldo Capello (#77): „Generally I am very content. The track was a little bit more slippery than yesterday. Traffic held me up during my fastest lap.”

Dr Wolfgang Ullrich, Head of Audi Sport: „At Mosport it is very important to start from the front because overtaking is very difficult. I hope we can keep the first two places tomorrow. I believe Panoz will reduce the gap, but our cars are looking very strong.”

Reinhold Joest, Team Director Audi Sport North America: „The track is really not easy, but we were able to find the right setup. The car is very well balanced, this is the key to success on this track. But the race is on Sunday - and Panoz and BMW are not to far away.”
