Dindo Capello (Italy) and Allan McNish (Scotland) have been elected by the American Auto Racing Writers and Broadcasters Association (AARWBA) for the prestigious “All America Team 2006”. The Association of American Motorsport Journalists honoured the two Audi factory drivers for winning the 2006 American Le Mans Series title with the revolutionary Audi R10 TDI diesel sportscar.

Dindo Capello accepted the coveted trophies for himself and on behalf of team-mate Allan McNish last weekend at a ceremony in the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Indianapolis (USA). “This award is indeed a great honour for Allan and I,” said the Italian on the stage in Indianapolis. “The AARWBA is of similar importance in the USA as the ‘Golden Helmet’ I was awarded in my home country Italy and which is the most important motorsport award there. To have won both awards shows me that 2006 really was an excellent year for Allan and I.”

The “All America Team” was elected for the 36th time by the AARWBA. Since 1970, performances mainly in American motorsport have been honoured. The majority of the award winners also originated from the USA on this occasion.
