Audi achieves two podium positions in US capital

ALMS 2002
The start at Washington

60.000 spectators in the heart of Washington saw an enthusiastic debut of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) in the US capital. The main protagonists of the 2:45 hrs long thriller were once again the Infineon Audi R8 sportcars of the Audi Sport North America team and the fastest Panoz of David Brabham and Jan Magnussen. With many lead changes and intensive paint exchange, the outcome was left open until the very last of the 140 race laps. Then Tom Kristensen had to admit defeat to fellow Dane Jan Magnussen and crossed the finish line with a marginal gap of 0.766 seconds in second place.
