DTM 2004
The new Audi A3 Sportback on the Norisring

On Sunday, before the six Audi A4 DTM cars fight for victory on the Norisring, another star from Ingolstadt will make its big appearance: Immediately before the DTM cars line up on the grid at the season’s highlight in Nuremberg, twenty Audi A3 Sportback cars will complete several demonstration laps around the 2.3 kilometre long street circuit. The parade will be led by historical race cars from the long motorsport history of AUDI AG.

It is the first big public appearance for the new Audi A3 Sportback. The first five-door saloon with the sporting finesse of a Coupé unites the athletic lines of the hatchback version with even more space and variability for the demands made by leisure time, the family and sport. The Sportback is available with numerous engine versions, the most powerful producing 184 kW (250 hp). The cars will be driven around the Norisring by Audi employees who are involved in the project and the development.

Four cars, which have written a chapter in Audi motorsport history, will head the Audi parade on Sunday: The fans will see the IMSA GTO with which Hans-Joachim Stuck collected seven victories in a single season during the 1980s in USA. The Audi A4 quattro, which incredibly won the touring car titles in seven countries in 1996, will be in action. Obviously, at the Audi ‘home race’ a place must be found for the V8 quattro, the DTM championship winning car from 1990 and 1991 and two-time winner at the Norisring. Fourth in the bunch is the Abt-Audi TT-R. With this car, Team Abt Sportsline won the DTM title in 2002 and took the spoils at the Norisring.

The parade starts on Sunday at 1 p.m. local time immediately after the DTM show programme. The race will start at 2 p.m.
