FIA World Rallycross Championship 2018, Capetown
Audi S1 EKS RX quattro #5 (EKS Audi Sport), Mattias Ekström

The neck-and-neck race between Mattias Ekström and Andreas Bakkerud for the FIA World Rallycross Championship (World RX) runner-up title continues. At the final in Cape Town, South Africa the two EKS Audi Sport drivers are separated by just a single point in fourth and fifth places in the interim standings. The gap to leader Sébastien Loeb in a Peugeot is also minimal after two of four qualification races. “We haven’t won anything today, even though we were quick from the very beginning,” said Ekström on Saturday evening. “Tomorrow is the all-important day to which we are both really looking forward to,” added Bakkerud. “The circuit is great fun to drive and the fans here are incredibly enthusiastic.”

Before the finale in Cape Town, Ekström lies four points ahead of his team mate Bakkerud in the drivers’ world championship standings. SPORT1 broadcasts the highlights from Cape Town on Sunday (November 25) from 23:00 CET on its main channel. The livestream on www.sport1.de and the coverage on SPORT1+ start already at 13:00.
