Go for gold at Audi’s World RX home round

A golden autumn for Mattias Ekström and Andreas Bakkerud: Brilliant sunshine and summer-like temperatures welcomed the drivers of EKS Audi Sport to the Estering near Hamburg (Germany). Before Audi’s home round in the FIA World Rallycross Championship (World RX) the two drivers together with journalists took a boat tour on the Elbe River, competed against their mechanics in a slot car race at the team’s marquee and were on camera for a video shoot. On Friday’s track walk, Ekström and Bakkerud prepared for the racing action. After Mattias Ekström managed to win at the Estering last year, the Swede is aiming to claim gold again this time. In the Audi S1 EKS RX quattro, he will be able to lay the foundation for this feat in Saturday’s first two qualifying sessions at 12 noon and 2 PM. Highlights of the weekend will be the semi-finals and the final on Sunday (October 14) starting at 2 PM. SPORT1 will air live coverage on Sunday from 1.30 to 3 PM, CEST, on its main channel.
