FIA GT World Cup 2017
Audi R8 LMS #2 (Audi Sport Team WRT), Nico Müller

In a thrilling qualifying session for the FIA GT World Cup in Macau, Audi achieved a good performance. The brand with the four rings is the second-best manufacturer in the field of 20 race cars. Nico Müller from Audi Sport Team WRT as the best Audi driver qualified for the third row on the grid. The Swiss posted the fifth-best time in the Audi R8 LMS, missing the second row by a mere eight thousandths of a second.

Two other Audi drivers managed the leap into the top ten as well. German privateer driver Markus Pommer achieved position eight with Aust Motorsport. Formula E Champion Lucas di Grassi from Brazil set the tenth-best time with HCB-Rutronik Racing. His German teammate, Fabian Plentz, took position 18. Dutchman Robin Frijns damaged his Audi R8 LMS when he touched the wall. Following the repair, he ultimately managed to take 17th place. A qualification race is scheduled on Saturday before the drivers, with title defender Audi, will battle for the FIA GT World Cup on Sunday.
