The race at Spa stays exciting: After the end of the first third of the 24 Hours of Spa, the top 14 cars are within one lap. Frédéric Vervisch in car number 2 of Audi Sport Team WRT is currently third.Jules Gounon with car number 25 of Audi Sport Team Saintéloc is placed fifth.Both Audi R8 LMS as well as Audi number 1 of the Audi Sport Team WRT have led the race. After eight hours Nico Müller is P9 having lost places due to a drive-through-penalty.Fred Bouvy holds position 3 in the Amateur Class in the Audi of Audi Sport customer teamSaintéloc Racing.
Audi however also suffered bad luck with two further retirements: Stéphane Richelmi stopped in car number 6 of the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT due to electrical issues. Audi R8 LMS number 75 had an off, after that the car overheated due to the blocked cooling. In order to prevent further damage the Audi Sport customer team I.S.R. decided to take the car of Filipe Albuquerque, Filip Salaquarda and Clemens Schmid out of the race.
