Marking the beginning of a new chapter for Audi’s premium New Energy Vehicle brand AUDI: the first production model – the AUDI E5 Sportback – made its debut at the Volkswagen Group Media Night ahead of Auto Shanghai 2025. It is set to enter a market that is powering the transformation of the global automotive industry.
“With our new China-only brand AUDI, we are continuing to push boundaries,” says Gernot Döllner, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG. “The E5 Sportback offers the very best qualities of Audi, reimagined for and tailored to customers in China.” “The AUDI E5 Sportback is our first model based on the Advanced Digitized Platform, and it delivers on our brand promise: the best of both worlds. Audi’s DNA and engineering excellence is blended with China’s digital ecosystem and innovations, specifically tailored for our tech-savvy customers,” says Fermín Soneira, CEO of the Audi and SAIC Cooperation Project. The four-door AUDI E5 Sportback is a bold, fully electric fastback with dynamic proportions (length: 4,881 millimeters, width 1,959 millimeters, height 1,478 millimeters). It offers a power output of up to 579 kilowatts and a maximum range of 770 kilometers. Four distinct powertrains offer rear-wheel or quattro drive for a dynamic driving experience, accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometers an hour in 3.4 seconds. Built on the new jointly developed Advanced Digitized Platform, the E5 offers next-generation connected vehicle functionality and over-the-air updates for all vehicle systems. Market introduction will begin in summer 2025. A new era of Audi in China The new brand AUDI – spelled in capital letters, without the four rings – stands for a shared DNA but clear differentiation. It marks the beginning of a new era for the company in China, ensuring rapid response to the evolving demands of the Chinese market.
In addition to the wide range of personalization options made possible by Audi exclusive, exhibitions on aerodynamics and lighting technology provide interesting insights.
Your car is an unmistakable expression of your personality – that is the philosophy of Audi exclusive. With countless options for personalization, customers can design their vehicle as a one-of-a-kind model. The highest quality materials and a passion for detail are the foundation of individual luxury. The new A6 Avant impresses with perfect proportions that feature a long wheelbase, large wheels, and sculpted body. At Milan Design Week, Audi exclusive will unveil an upgraded version of the luxury model. The sports seats are finished in a luxurious combination of Baikal Blue and Neodymium Gold with contrasting stitching in Baikal Blue. In combination with the Vanadium applications, the A6 Avant takes elegance and exclusivity to perfection. “Neodymium is a metal that occurs naturally in combination with minerals. Our selection of colors was inspired by this luxurious element,” said Color & Trim Designer Nadine Wolfinger. “Combined with the intense hue of Baikal Blue, the interior takes on a particularly elegant appearance. In bright light, the blue appears vibrant and radiant, but in subdued light it takes on a soothing, almost mystical depth.” Visitors to the design fair can visit a “Material Bar”, where specially configured exhibits – such as three seating islands with different colors of leather and contrasting stitching – give them an overview of the wide selection offered by Audi exclusive. Two focused exhibitions explore the themes of aerodynamics and light, while an art installation provides an impressive backdrop. Again, the A6 Avant serves as the inspiration. Its sporty and elegant design contributes to its outstanding aerodynamics, ensuring a drag coefficient of 0.25, which is the best value for an Avant with a combustion engine in the history of Audi.

The sweeping contour of the spoiler lip gives the rear end the look of a three-dimensional sculpture – starting with the Audi rings, the rear lights and the connecting light strip. The distinctive exterior design of the new Audi A7 Sportback is largely devoid of chrome. The optional S line exterior package further hones the sporty look, with a more pronounced front bumper and titanium black air inlets; also the side sills are more strongly pronounced. At the rear is a strongly sculpted, titanium black diffuser insert. There is a choice of 15 colors, eight of which are new. Some are mixtures of multiple tones that look different depending on the light. They impart a particularly elegant touch to the outer skin. Customized paint finishes are available for the new Audi A7 Sportback upon request. Lighting design
The A7 Sportback is a testament to Audi’s leading role in lighting technology and lighting design. The Gran Turismo’s headlights are available in three versions: in LED technology, as HD Matrix LED and as HD Matrix LED with Audi laser light. In continuation of the top slat of the Singleframe, the two Matrix variants are divided horizontally to make the headlights appear slim and sporty. The dominant upper area houses the daytime running lights and creates a look with plenty of character. The low beam module is in the “pupil.” With the two HD Matrix variants, the daytime running lights signature is digital in character: Twelve light segments are positioned vertically next to each other here, separated by narrow spaces – conjuring up an association with the 0 and 1 of the digital world. In the lower zone are the turning light and the two-line Matrix high beam, which is made up of 32 individually controllable LEDs. They illuminate the road dynamically and precisely while hiding other road users from the cone of light. The LEDs also act as cornering lights.
The numerous trim variants allow wide-ranging characters to make their mark, from elegant through sporty. Exterior design The new Audi A6 is 4,939 meters (16.2 ft) long, 1,886 meters (6.2 ft) wide and just 1,457 meters (4.8 ft) high. The exterior stands out with its balanced proportions, visually shorter overhangs, athletically taut surfaces, sharply defined edges and striking lines. The Sedan’s Singleframe grille is wider and set down lower than on the predecessor model. It conveys an initial impression of technological expertise. Large, side air inlets with functional air curtains emphasize the Sedan’s sporty character; pronounced contours bring them to a finish lower down. Seen from the side too, the design of the A6 is tauter than before. A contour stretches across the top section of the sheet metal body, which starts as an edge in the hood and ends at the rear as a separating edge. The defining theme on the sides is the quattro sculpture, represented by striking muscles above the wheel arches – a throwback to the blisters of the Audi Ur-quattro. The arched shoulder line runs slightly lower across the doors. In the associated lower section, pronounced sideblades emphasize the dynamic side view. A characteristic domed arch dominates the roofline of the new Audi A6. The C-pillar is much flatter and the entire window line much more dynamic than before. The entire center of the car sits centrally between the axles. At the rear a chrome strip emphasizes the impression of width of the A6 and provides a link between the two rear lights. The wedge-shaped rear lights, which end externally in vertical segments, also contribute to the impression of width. They are part of the rear sculpture and with their aerodynamic finishing touches attest to the Sedan’s high-tech character.
Progressive sportiness: the exterior design The exterior design of the new A7 Sportback emphatically embodies Audi’s new, progressive design language focused on large surfaces, sharp edges and alternating light and shadows. The wide, low Singleframe grille and prominent air inlets express the dynamic character of the Gran Turismo at first glance. With the two optional headlight variants, twelve separate horizontal lighting strips create the lighting signature. Topping the line are the HD Matrix LED headlights with Audi laser light, which can be recognized by the blue marker in the reflector. Viewed from the side, pronounced contours emphasize the large wheels –a reference to Audi’s quattro genes. The sharply dropping roof line dominates the silhouette. The large coupé is 4.97 meters (16.3 ft) long and 1.91 meters (6.3 ft) wide, but just 1.42 meters (4.7 ft) high. Its rear is tapered like a yacht. A spoiler integrated into the long luggage compartment lid extends electrically at 120 km/h (74.6 mph). A light strip connects the rear lights, whose outer rear lights comprise 13 segments each. When the doors are unlocked or closed, dynamic lighting animations in the rear lights and headlights showcase the Audi A7. Reduction as a stylistic device: the interior design The design language in the interior of the new Audi A7 Sportback is reduced and clean. The horizontal lines and sleek instrument panel convey a feeling of airy spaciousness. The center console is inclined toward the driver and underscores the Gran Turismo’s sporty character. In the interior, the cockpit architecture and the MMI monitor merge to form a homogeneous surface. Most vehicle functions can be controlled via two displays in a black-panel look. The upper display is integrated almost invisibly into the dashboard. The choice of colors, upholstery materials, inlays and interior lighting fit perfectly into the futuristic lounge atmosphere.

According to Bentley’s idea, this light metal could be used to produce pistons instead of heavy cast iron, which was usual at the time. The idea became a reality – the Bentley piston was born. It was initially installed in World War I aircraft, and straight after the end of the war, in Bentley’s first vehicle, the Experimental Bentley No. 1. At the presentation in 1919, its creator said: “I wanted to build a fast car, a good car, the best in its class.” In the 1920s, Bentley’s 85-horsepower three-liter engines from the brand’s first factory in Cricklewood reached speeds of up to 80 miles per hour, around 129 km/h. They broke various speed and endurance records and became regular protagonists in the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 1924, 1927, 1928, 1929, and 1930, the Bentley Boys won the trophy – and in 1929, they took all four first places. Rescued by the competition and a new start But then the global economic crisis and the harbingers of the next war soon almost drove the company into ruin. Rival Rolls-Royce took over Bentley in 1931 and moved production from Cricklewood to Derby. The factory in Crewe, Bentley’s main site to this day, was built in 1938. Before the war, it manufactured aircraft engines, but in 1946, the first car left the assembly hangar: the Mark V1. The R-Type Continental debuted in 1952, making it the world’s fastest four-seater at the time, with a top speed of 120 miles per hour (approx. 193 km/h). The year 1957 witnessed the arrival of the four-door Continental Flying Spur, and 1959 saw the launch of the S2 with its groundbreaking 6.2-liter V8 aluminum engine. 100 years young and focused on the future The partnership with Rolls-Royce lasted almost seven decades before the Volkswagen Group took over Bentley in 1998 and invested more than £1 billion in the Crewe production facilities. In 2020, shortly after Bentley’s 100th birthday, the Beyond100 strategy was unveiled.
