Rainer Schirmer - Biography

Rainer Schirmer was born on September 30, 1966, in Neuenstadt, Germany.
In 1982, he began his vocational training in power plant electronics at AUDI AG in Neckarsulm. Following his apprenticeship, Rainer Schirmer worked as a maintenance engineer in various departments.
In 2000, he was elected workers’ representative and one year later he was elected to the committee of workers’ representatives. In 2002, Rainer Schirmer was elected to the Works Council and in 2009, to the Works Committee at the Neckarsulm plant.
In 2016, he was elected Vice Chairman of the Works Council and thus became involved in the General Works Council of AUDI AG. He has been a member of the Group Works Council of Volkswagen AG since 2016 and a member of the Supervisory Board of AUDI AG since 2018.
Since 2021, Rainer Schirmer has been Chairman of the Works Council of AUDI AG for the Neckarsulm plant and Vice Chairman of the General Works Council of AUDI AG.
