Audi has built cars at the Ingolstadt site for 75 years. This is where AUDI AG has its headquarters; around 40,000 employees (as of December 31, 2025) work in Ingolstadt to achieve “Vorsprung durch Technik”.

From the initial idea to the finished automobile, the entire production process for the Audi Q2, Audi A3, Audi A6 e-tron, and Audi Q6 e-tron takes place at the Ingolstadt plant. The Audi Ingolstadt location continues to develop into a networked digital factory for the electrified future. Modern production systems and high-tech solutions enable highly efficient, sustainable manufacturing. With the Audi A6 e-tron and Audi Q6 e-tron, two fully electric models are rolling off the line in Ingolstadt. In addition, production of the new Audi A2 e-tron will start in 2026. With the mix of fully electric models and combustion models such as the new Audi Q3, which will be manufactured jointly at the Győr and Ingolstadt sites in the course of the year, Audi is ensuring that the Ingolstadt site remains robust and future-proof.

Sustainable and flexible: production of the Audi Q6 e-tron series in Ingolstadt

Since production started in late 2023, the Audi Q6 e-tron series has been the first high-volume fully electric model series that Audi has produced at its headquarters in Ingolstadt. In keeping with the brand’s 360factory production strategy, Audi has integrated individual production steps into existing body shop and assembly structures and processes. Since January 1, 2024, Audi has also been manufacturing at its Ingolstadt site with net-zero emissions1. Moreover, the brand with the four rings’ headquarters is the first Audi location in Germany to have its own battery assembly facility.

Audi A6 e-tron: New attractively priced entry-level models are introduced

The A6 e-tron family is expanding: Audi is launching an entry-level variant with rear-wheel drive and a more affordable variant with quattro drive. The new drive variants are now available to order. The A6 Sportback e-tron costs 62,800 euros, and the A6 Avant e-tron 64,450 euros. The price for the A6 Sportback e-tron quattro is 79,800 euros, and for the A6 Avant e-tron quattro 81,450 euros.

Audi Ingolstadt: net carbon neutral production since January 2024

The Audi plant in Ingolstadt began net carbon-neutral production on January 1, 2024. After Brussels (Belgium, 2018) and Győr (Hungary, 2020), it is the third Audi plant to operate with net zero emissions. In addition are the Audi R8 and e-tron GT quattro models, which have been built at Böllinger Höfe with net zero emissions since 2020. As part of its Mission:Zero environmental program, Audi has set itself the goal of achieving net carbon neutrality at all its sites worldwide by 2025. By then, the final steps will have been taken in Neckarsulm and San José Chiapa (Mexico).

The manufacture of the Audi Q6 e-tron series is a collaboration across locations. The electrically powered SUV marks the first time the brand with the four rings has produced an all-electric Audi model at its headquarters in Ingolstadt. Audi is building the electric motors for the premiere Premium Platform Electric (PPE) model in Győr, Hungary. In this interview, Siegfried Schmidtner, plant manager in Ingolstadt, and Alfons Dintner, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria, discuss the collaboration between the two sites, the mood among employees in the light of the company’s ongoing transformation, and the future prospects for Ingolstadt and Győr.

incampus opens in Ingolstadt: Ground for new ideas

After seven years of extensive soil remediation and construction, the time has come. The official opening of the incampus technology park was attended by Minister-President of Bavaria Markus Söder and Mayor of Ingolstadt Christian Scharpf. On the former refinery site, Audi and its partners will work on the future of mobility. Audi already has a new Vehicle Safety Center and an IT Center at the site, and the Volkswagen Group’s software company CARIAD also has its biggest tech hub there.

Audi is consistently driving the hybrid working world of the future within the company. On October 1, 2022, the company agreement "Hybrid Working" will come into force at the Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm sites. The company agreement provides for an even higher degree of flexibility for employees. They are free to choose their place of work and there is no requirement for fixed days in the office.
