MaterialLoop project tests circular economy potential of end-of-life vehicles

Much of the project’s recycled steel can be used to produce new models. Here the recyclable material is added to the molten crude iron from the blast furnace at a temperature of over 1000 degrees Celsius in a so-called converter (approx. 180 tons in volume) before the desired steel grade is produced with additional alloys.
