Most vehicle functions can be controlled via two displays in a black-panel look. The upper display is integrated almost invisibly into the dashboard. The choice of colors, upholstery materials, inlays and interior lighting fit perfectly into the futuristic lounge atmosphere. Systematically digitalized: MMI touch response and online voice control The new Audi A7 Sportback continues the digitalization strategy begun with the new A8 and adopts the MMI touch response concept with acoustic-haptic feedback: A tangible and audible click confirms activation of a function via the finger on the display. The upper display is used to control the infotainment, while the lower display provides access to the climate control, comfort and convenience functions and text input. Thanks to the logical, flat menu structure, operation is intuitive like on a smartphone. Audi has designed the optional voice control as a natural language dialogue system (MMI navigation and above). It uses both onboard information as well as knowledge from the cloud to process all input. The driver can also control many functions on the steering wheel, and there is an optional head-up display. MMI navigation plus also includes the Audi virtual cockpit. Fully networked: Infotainment and Audi connect Its extensive range of infotainment makes the A7 an intelligent endurance athlete. MMI navigation uses the latest generation of the Modular Infotainment Platform. It transmits data at LTE speed and features an integrated Wi-Fi hotspot. The navigation system learns from the routes traveled and can make suggestions of its own. The system computes the route online on the servers of the service provider HERE, which considers real-time data for the entire traffic situation. Among the online services provided by Audi connect are various Car-to-X services, such as traffic sign information and hazard information.

Audi Q6 e-tron – New display operating concept – Animation
With its fully digital operating system, extensive range of connectivity features and up to 39 driver assistance systems, it offers maximum comfort and personalization. User operation The new Audi A7 Sportback uses MMI touch response, the fully digital operating concept from the flagship A8 that can be operated as intuitively as a smartphone with touch and swipe gestures. Two touch displays with haptic and acoustic feedback replace the rotary pushbutton and many buttons from the previous model. They transport Audi’s quality standards into the digital age and offer a high degree of operating safety. The upper display controls the infotainment and measures 10.1 inches when equipped with MMI navigation plus. The lower, 8.6-inch display is on the center console and is used for the climate control, comfort and convenience functions and text input by handwriting or virtual keyboard. The driver can rest their wrist on the wide selection lever when using the controls. Intelligent, detailed solutions make using the new technology even more attractive. If a finger touches an icon, this is confirmed either by an animation or a change in color. If the finger pushes so hard that it triggers the function, the icon or list entry lights up briefly. Many symbols are also configured with long-touch and long-push functions. Wiping, scrolling and multifinger gestures are also supported. Text entry on the lower supply detects not only entire words, but also letters drawn over top of each other and confirms this with acoustic feedback. Both displays present the images and graphics on a black background. The graphical user interface has been deliberately reduced so that information can be understood particularly quickly. A few pictographs are subtly animated. The menu structure is lean and intuitively understandable. On the lower display, the start screen can be configured according to your personal preferences.
At low speeds, the all-wheel steering turns the rear wheels up to five degrees in the opposite direction to the front wheels, improving maneuverability in city traffic and tight bends. At medium and higher speeds, the rear wheels turn in the same direction, resulting in stable and even more precise handling. The drives with mild‑hybrid technology MHEV plus play a major role in the outstanding driving experience. In addition to the 2.0 TDI four-cylinder engine with 150 kW (204 PS) the 3.0 TFSI six-cylinder engine with 270 kW (367 PS) also features this type of partial electrification. The MHEV plus system supports the combustion engine, enhances performance and driving comfort, and reduces CO2 emissions. It enables fully electric parking and maneuvering. The A6 Sedan also runs on electric power when driving slowly in the city, in slow-moving traffic, or outside city limits when coasting to the next village. Furthermore, the MHEV plus technology generates an additional drive torque of up to 230 Newton meters and up to 18 kW (24 PS) of power when starting off or overtaking. Up to 25 kW is recuperated when decelerating. Sound insulation inside the A6 Sedan has been improved by up to 30 percent compared to its predecessor – and this increases driving comfort. More tightly sealed windows and optimized door seals ensure more pleasant acoustics in the interior; a tailgate seal also significantly minimizes wind noise. Moreover, all tires 19 inches or larger are equipped with so-called noise absorbers. Newly developed engine and transmission mount bushings make for a smoother and quieter ride.
The second special feature is the “digital stage,” which is laid out in front of the occupants in the form of the Audi MMI display. With its “material-driven design,” the new Audi A6 fulfills the aspiration for a generous sense of space with a high level of comfort. The clear structure and logical operating concept ensure an overview in all situations and represent the fourth feature, “visual clarity. The digital stage revolves around the Audi MMI panoramic display and the optional MMI passenger display. The thin free-standing Audi MMI panoramic display has a curved design and OLED technology. It consists of the Audi virtual cockpit with an 11.9-inch display diagonal and the 14.5-inch MMI touch display. Audi complements the digital stage for the front passengers with the optional 10.9-inch MMI front passenger display, which is also perfectly integrated into the dashboard design. It enables the front passenger to look up websites and stream video content and also helps when navigating or searching for the nearest gas station. Thanks to the dynamic privacy mode, distracting content such as videos cannot be viewed from the driver’s seat while driving. If the passenger display is not in use or if no passengers are detected, a digital background image is shown. The new Audi A6 Avant can be optionally equipped with a new, configurable head-up display (HUD). A wide range of information can be displayed on the HUD, including speed, active assistance systems, navigation instructions, and media information. For the first time, drivers have the option of controlling vehicle and infotainment functions via the head-up display. Thanks to the maximized use of the installation space and the adapted display technology, the visible image area is more than 85 percent larger than before, and the display is significantly more precise. As a contrast to the digital and technical areas, the new interior of the Audi A6 Avant features a so-called Softwrap application.
LED light guides trace the contours of the doors and the center console — doing so in up to 30 different colors in combination with the optional ambient lighting package. The horizontal alignment of the instrument panel creates a sense of spaciousness. The passengers are welcomed by the illuminated door sill trims that bear the RS 4 logo. Upon request, the RS design package adds some color to the interior, with the RS logo featured on the center console, the armrests, seat belts and floor mats. The steering wheel, selector lever and knee pads are all covered with Alcantara with red contrasting stitching. In addition to the red, the extended RS design package now also offers accents in gray. The seat brackets in the backrest are available in the matching color for the RS design package red. As a highlight of the competition packages, a Dinamica/leather combination with partly recycled materials can be added to the interior. The 10.1-inch MMI touch display is the control center of the operating system. It is located in the center of the instrument panel and tilted slightly toward the driver. The touch-sensitive screen displays a high-resolution graphic animation of an RS 4 Avant to welcome the driver. The MMI touch display provides acoustic feedback and takes over the functions of the previous rotary pushbutton on the center console. The passengers can use the RS monitor to call up an overview of drive system component temperatures, maximum g-forces and information regarding tire pressures and temperatures. In the Audi virtual cockpit, special RS displays provide information on tire pressure, torque, power output, engine oil temperature, lap timings, acceleration measurements, and g-forces.
Operating system In the A8 luxury sedan and in the new A7 Sportback, the MMI touch response operating concept is already in use; it is now also making its way into the A6: Two touch displays with tactile and acoustic feedback, both tilted toward the driver, replace the rotary/pushbutton control and most buttons and controls on the predecessor model. The new concept is futuristic; it can be used and customized intuitively like a smartphone, and transfers Audi’s quality aspirations from the analog to the digital world. The top display, located centrally in the instrument panel, is used to control the infotainment. If the MMI navigation plus is specified, the display has a 10.1-inch screen diagonal. The bottom display measures 8.6 inches and is located on the center console. The driver uses it to manage the climate control, the convenience functions and text input; the driver’s wrist can sit comfortably on the selector lever of the automatic transmission. MMI search is based on free text input. If the driver is, say, looking for a restaurant, a list of hits appears after just a few letters. On both MMI touch response displays the graphical user interface features a clear design so that the customer can assimilate the information quickly. The menu structure remains flat; on the top display users can adjust the start screen icons, similar to smartphone apps, in accordance with their personal preferences. The operating tiles can be moved to the required location on the screen by means of drag-and-drop and various favorite buttons created on the left-hand edge of the screen. For other frequently used functions, the driver can also create shortcuts in the bottom screen and access various vehicle functions directly. These include radio stations, contacts from the phone book or apps. The voice control, standard in the new Audi A6, is based on natural language voice control, allowing the user to talk almost freely.
