Successful start to the 2025 season for Audi customer teams
Audi R8 LMS GT3 Convincing start in the southern hemisphere: In the Fanatec GT World Challenge powered by AWS, teams on three continents continue to rely on the Audi R8 LMS. The season began in Australia with successes in the overall and class rankings. At the season opener in Phillip Island, Broc Feeney/Brad Schumacher from Kelso Electrical Team MPC won the eventful second race, in which several competitors made mistakes and received sporting penalties. The privateer driver duo celebrated their first win of the season by seven tenths of a second in the Audi R8 LMS. Brendon Leitch/Tim Miles contributed a third place for Dayle ITM Team MPC in the first race. Solo driver Renee Gracie recorded a second place and a class win in the Am classification in the Only Fans Team MPC Audi. Brothers James and Theo Koundouris completed the tally as the third-best Am team in both races in the Supabarn Supermarkets/Tigani Audi. In Asia, FAW Audi Sport Asia Team Phantom celebrated a podium in the overall standings and two class victories. The Chinese driver pairing of Franky Cheng/James Yu in the Audi R8 LMS won the Silver class in both races in Sepang and finished third overall in the second race. The podium result is remarkable as the driver duo had only started from position 15. Cheng/Yu now lead the Silver classification by 17 points. In Europe, the Saintéloc Racing team achieved a class podium in the Endurance Cup at Le Castellet. Lorens Lecertua/Lucas Légeret/Ivan Klymenko crossed the finish line after six hours of racing in the Audi R8 LMS as the third-best Silver driver team. In endurance racing, several private driver teams were delighted to clinch trophies in their classes. Juta Racing from Lithuania recorded a podium result at the start of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie season. The driver trio of Frank Stippler/“Selv”/Alexey Veremenko achieved second place in the Pro-Am classification after the Audi R8 LMS started from pole position.
Overall victory for Audi R8 LMS in Italian endurance racing
At the second event of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS, Audi’s customer teams once again took home several trophies. Wolfbrook Team MPC achieved the best result on the Sydney circuit. Ryan Wood/Steve Brooks achieved second place in the second race in the Audi R8 LMS. They were followed by Broc Feeney/Brad Schumacher from Kelso Electrical Team MPC with a gap of just under eight seconds. This private driver pairing in an Audi R8 LMS remains second in the standings. Renee Gracie drew attention to herself in qualifying: second place overall and thus the front row of the grid in the first race was the solo driver’s personal best performance to date in the Audi R8 LMS. She won the amateur classification in both races, while brothers James and Theo Koundouris took third and second place in this category. Matt Stoupas/Gary Higgon won the Trophy classification in the second race in another Audi. In the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Sprint Cup, Audi’s customer teams recorded four class podium results with the R8 LMS. At the season opener at Brands Hatch, the Dane Sebastian Øgaard and the Italian Leonardo Moncini together finished third in the Gold Cup for Tresor Attempto Racing in the two one-hour sprint races. The second race in the Silver Cup was particularly exciting: their teammates Alex Aka/Ezequiel Perez Companc missed out on class victory by just 0.676 seconds in second place after 37 laps. Lorens Lecertua/Ivan Klymenko followed around 1.1 seconds behind in third place in the Saintéloc Racing Audi. Audi’s customers also returned with trophies from the second event of the GT World Challenge Asia powered by AWS. At Mandalika in Indonesia, the FAW Audi Sport Asia Team Phantom achieved third place in the Silver category in the first race with Cheng Congfu/Yu Kuai. They had started from pole position thanks to a very good qualifying performance by Cheng Congfu.

A class act: the new Audi A6 Avant
All in all, these measures result in a noticeably improved steering response and more feedback from the road, which, in combination with the high-performance drive, leads to precise and light-footed handling. All-wheel steering is available as an option in conjunction with quattro all-wheel drive. It works with a dynamic function whose reaction speed has been improved even further. At low speeds, the rear wheels turn up to five degrees in the opposite direction to the front wheels. The car is thus more agile in city traffic and in tight curves, and the turning circle is reduced by up to one meter. At medium and higher speeds, the rear wheels turn in the same direction, enabling stable and even more precise handling. Superior comfort with digital functions: the interior The interior also ensures first-class travel with its generous space and state-of-the-art technology. The operating concept puts the driver first and, thanks to the panoramic and passenger displays, takes the digital experience to a new level. Personalization plays a major role here – including in the lighting. The driver can choose from seven digital light signatures at the front and rear. Active segments that intelligently brighten and dim visibly showcase the innovative technology, especially in combination with the second-generation digital OLED rear lights. They create a strong recognition value while also increasing road safety. Digital lighting technology – an essential part of Audi DNA – thus contributes to a comfortable and safe driving experience. The feel-good factor is further enhanced by numerous first-rate features, including the adjustable panoramic glass roof. It amplifies the generous sense of space and allows the driver to switch between a light-flooded interior and effective shading. The premium sound system with 3D sound from Bang & Olufsen guarantees an outstanding sound experience, with speakers in the front headrests providing customized listening enjoyment.

Audi Tradition launches its 2025 event season
On the same weekend, two-time German rally champion Harald Demuth will pilot a 1984 Audi quattro Rallye at the FAT ICE RACE in Zell am See, Austria (February 1).A desert car on ice: Jutta Kleinschmidt, who in 2001 became the first and to date only woman to win the Dakar Rally, will drive the Audi RS Q e-tron, the car that won the 2024 Dakar, in Zell.Action on the ice continues three weeks later in St. Moritz at The I.C.E. concours d’elegance (February 21-22) where Tom Kristensen will present the Audi quattro Group S, built in 1986, on the frozen Lake St. Moritz. Development work began as early as 1985 on this special rally car, featuring a tubular space frame, plastic bodywork, and four-valve turbocharged engine with a mid-engine layout. It was intended for use in the Group S category of rallying planned from 1987 onwards, but it was ultimately not used. The Festival of Speed in Goodwood (July 10–13) attracts motorsport fans from around the world. Audi Tradition will be there to celebrate the first Audi victory at Le Mans 25 years ago – together with Le Mans legends Tom Kristensen and Rinaldo “Dindo” Capello. At the Goodwood Hillclimb, the Auto Union Type 52 driven by Hans-Joachim Stuck, will also be on the starting line along with the Le Mans race cars. Two weeks after Goodwood, Audi Tradition will take part in another festival: the Eifel Rallye Festival (July 24–26) in Daun. Audi Tradition will also be polishing up vehicles from its historical collection in preparation for classic car rallies, for example the Heidelberg Historic (July 4–5), the Donau Classic (July 18–19), and the Sachsen Classic (August 14–16). As is tradition, the Audi museum mobile will participate in International Museum Day (May 18) and the Night of the Museums (September 13). Finally, model car markets at the Audi Forum in Neckarsulm (November 9) and Ingolstadt (November 30) are on the event calendar for the latter part of the year.
Improved handling: progressive steering and all-wheel steering
All in all, these measures result in a noticeably improved steering response and more feedback from the road, which makes for precise and light-footed vehicle handling. The A6 Avant comes standard with electromechanical progressive steering. The steering ratio varies depending on the steering angle: at small steering angles, such as on the highway, the steering is more indirect to prevent any nervous behavior from influencing the steering. At larger steering angles, the ratio is increasingly more direct, reducing the amount of physical effort required to steer in city traffic and when parking. Moreover, the progressive steering provides a sporty driving feel in tight corners. The Audi drive select dynamic handling system can be used to vary the steering characteristics – specifically steering weight – in several modes. All-wheel steering is optionally available in conjunction with quattro all-wheel drive. It works with a dynamic function whose reaction speed has been improved even further. At speeds of up to roughly 60 km/h (37.3 mph), the rear wheels turn up to five degrees in the opposite direction to the front wheels. This decreases the turning circle by up to one meter (39.4 in), reducing it to 11.3 meters (37.1 ft). The car is thus more agile in city traffic and in tight curves. At medium and higher speeds, the rear wheels turn in the same direction, enabling stable and even more precise handling. Business lounge: the interior design philosophy
The seats, Softwrap, door panels, and armrests are optionally available in sustainable materials such as the fabric Kaskade and the microfiber material Dinamica, which are largely made of recycled polyester. The textile cover Kaskade is reminiscent of natural materials such as wool and is not additionally dyed. It is partially made from recycled materials such as selvedge and recycled polyester. Dinamica looks and feels like suede, but about half of it is recycled polyester. Only European wood from felled trees that no longer bear fruit is used for the natural apple brown wood decor. The distinct interior of the A6 Avant also makes an impression in the dark. The contoured lighting along the dashboard and in the doors accentuates the width of the interior, while the indirect light below the Audi MMI panorama display and in the center console creates a visual effect of floating. The high-quality materials in the doors are also stylishly illuminated. And on vehicles with this option, the Bang & Olufsen logo is even lit up. As part of the redesigned interior and cockpit to create the digital stage, the dynamic interaction light facilitates communication between the vehicle and its occupants. Consisting of 84 LEDs, it is located below the windshield and is illuminated in a large arc extending from the left to the right A-pillar. In addition to a welcome function, the interaction light also features a special lighting sequence that is activated when the vehicle is locked or unlocked. It also supports safety by displaying the dynamic turn signal, but this only ever serves as an additional display and does not replace the turn signal in the Audi virtual cockpit.
