Founded 40 years ago with a handful of employees, today Audi Sport GmbH – formerly quattro GmbH – shapes the sporty, exclusive image of the brand with the four rings. Only the sportiest models bearing the four rings are allowed to use the insignia R and RS. In addition to dynamic models for the general customer base, the company also handles customization through the Audi exclusive program and the Audi collection. Audi Sport GmbH is managed by Dr. Sebastian Grams, responsible for high-performance models and vehicle customization, and Rolf Michl, responsible for motorsports, finances, procurement, and strategy. Audi will enter Formula 1 for the first time in 2026. For this purpose, the independent Audi Formula Racing GmbH was founded as a wholly owned subsidiary of Audi Sport GmbH. It is responsible for the development and production of the specially developed power unit and is headed by CEO Adam Baker.

Exclusive Anniversary Package: The Audi RS Q3 edition 10 years

Audi is celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Audi RS Q3 with a sporty special edition: the RS Q3 edition 10 years. This car is limited to 555 units worldwide and is available for the RS Q3 and RS Q3 Sportback This compact sports car has become well established in the years since its 2013 market launch. Since 2019, the second generation has delivered 294 kW (400 PS) and 480 Nm of torque. The Audi RS Q3 edition 10 years is powered by the 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbo engine. It brings its power to the road via a 7-speed S tronic and its permanent all-wheel drive quattro. The anniversary edition has exclusive accents both inside and out. These include the new Chronos Gray metallic paintwork, 21 inch alloy wheels, new RS bucket seats with recycled Dinamica microfiber material, and jet black applications on the instrument panel. The Edition package will be priced starting at €5,990 and will be available to order in Germany from the end of October 2022.

High Performance in Its Purest Form: The new Audi R8 Coupé V10 GT RWD

Twelve years after the premiere of the first Audi R8 GT, Audi Sport GmbH is launching the second edition of this exclusive super sports car: the new Audi R8 Coupé V10 GT RWD. The 5.2 liter, naturally aspirated V10 engine’s output is boosted to 456 kW (620 PS) making it the most powerful rear-wheel drive unit in the history of the brand. A new 7-speed dual-clutch transmission for faster shifts and the new Torque Rear driving mode allows drivers to choose their own level of ESC support. This enables controlled and simultaneously precise oversteering. The seven-stage torque rear can be adjusted via the control satellite on the steering wheel. The new R8 GT is limited to 333 units worldwide. New and exclusive exterior and interior features pay homage to the first generation of the R8 GT. These include, for example, sequential numbering, special light alloy wheels, and an interior in a combination of black and red. The new Audi R8 Coupé V10 GT RWD will be available at dealerships from 2023. Prices start at € 225,000.

“For me, the current RS 6 is the crowning achievement of two decades of RS history”

From the first generation RS 6 to the current one: Stephan Reil was there from the start and had a lot of influence on the development of the high-performance Audi. A graduate engineer, he became Division Head for Vehicle Customization at quattro GmbH (now Audi Sport GmbH) in 1996. In 1998, he took over as Head of Vehicle Development for all of the company’s complete vehicles and since 2020 he has been in charge of technical development for AUDI AG at the Neckarsulm site. On the twentieth anniversary of the first generation RS 6, the C5, Reil looks back on the challenges in development and technical refinement and remembers defining events.

Heightened emotions: The new competition packages for the Audi RS 4 Avant and Audi RS 5

In the course of some proverbial fine-tuning, Audi Sport GmbH is increasing the sportiness of the Audi RS 4 Avant and Audi RS 5. The new competition package is bursting with extras that both sharpen the cars’ appearance and make for a more emotional driving experience. With its optional coilover suspension (RS sport suspension pro), the competition plus package boasts a maximum in dynamics and driving fun while not compromising its top suitability for everyday use. Sometimes less is more: Reduced insulation between the engine compartment and the interior means the RS 4 Avant and RS 5 will thrill customers with an exciting, next-level sound experience. The potent biturbo V6 has 331 kW (450 PS) of power and a torque of 600 newton meters from 1,900 to 5,000 rpm. The Audi RS 4 Avant and RS 5 with the competition packages will be available from dealers starting July. Prices start at 7.875 euros for the competition package and 11,875 euros for the competition plus package.
