Audi donates to UN Refugee Aid

An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale shook southeastern Turkey and northern Syria on February 6. The true extent of the disaster still cannot be estimated. Audi is donating one million euros in aid to UNO-Flüchtlingshilfe.

After the Volkswagen Group announced a first wave of financial aid on behalf of all group brands shortly after the earthquake, AUDI AG is now making another important contribution to humanitarian support with its donation of one million euros. “The people of Turkey and Syria are suffering greatly from the consequences of this terrible disaster. We cannot simply stand by and watch; instead we are providing concrete aid,” says Xavier Ros, Member of the Board of Management for Human Resources and Organization at AUDI AG. “We are all still shocked by the images and news coming out of Turkey and Syria. We are all the more grateful to AUDI AG for its exemplary, highly valuable aid for the people there,” comments Peter Ruhenstroth-Bauer, National Director of UNO-Flüchtlingshilfe.

Great sympathy among Audi employees

The solidarity within AUDI AG is also vast. A section of the workforce with Turkish roots has families and friends who live in the affected areas. Furthermore, there is a great deal of sympathy and willingness to help among all Audi employees. A Group-wide staff donation for the victims of the earthquake amounted to nearly 270,000 euros – donations can still be made at https://www.drk.de/volkswagen/. Audi employees have already demonstrated their willingness to help on several past occasions, for example the war in Ukraine or the 2021 flood catastrophe in Germany.
