    A technological leap for electric mobility: the Premium Platform Electric and the E³ 1.2 electronic architecture
    With the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) and the new E³ electronic architecture, Audi is continuing to assert its status as a leading provider of networked and fully electric premium mobility. The PPE platform, which was developed jointly with Porsche, and the E³ 1.2 electronic architecture, which was designed with CARIAD, are important milestones for the expansion of Audi’s global electric vehicle range, and they mark the beginning of the biggest product initiative in Audi’s history. With the world premiere of the Audi Q6 e-tron, the brand with the four rings is introducing its first production model based on the PPE, a platform designed specifically for battery electric vehicles.

    Sustainable and flexible: production of the Audi Q6 e-tron series in Ingolstadt
    Since production started in late 2023, the Audi Q6 e-tron series has been the first high-volume fully electric model series that Audi has produced at its headquarters in Ingolstadt. In keeping with the brand’s 360factory production strategy, Audi has integrated individual production steps into existing body shop and assembly structures and processes. Since January 1, 2024, Ingolstadt is the third Audi location to manufacture with net zero emissions1, following Brussels (2018) and Győr (2020). In addition, the brand with the four rings’ headquarters is also the first Audi location in Germany to have its own battery assembly facility.

    With the launch of Premium Platform Electric (PPE), Audi is introducing a completely new electronics architecture. The E3 will be used for the first time in the 1.2 specification in the Audi Q6 e-tron series. The name E3 stands for end-to-end electronic architecture. Its core element consists of five high-performance computers (high-performance computing platform, HCP) that cover all vehicle functions – from the drive system and assistance systems to the infotainment and comfort systems to the safety systems and backend connectivity.

    Audi builds the electric motors for the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) at the world’s largest powertrain plant in Győr, Hungary. The drive systems will initially be used in the Audi Q6 e-tron series, which is produced in Ingolstadt. Győr manufactures the PPE drive systems on an area of around 15,000 square meters (approx. 160,000 sq ft), in addition to producing stator and transmission components and assembling the axles. Csaba Imre Benke, Head of the Electric Drive Systems Product Segment in Győr and responsible for the production of the PPE drive systems, explains how Audi is setting new standards with the production of electric drive systems for the PPE.

With the Q6 e-tron range, e-mobility is coming from the Ingolstadt plant for the first time. The Audi Q6 e-tron quattro and SQ6 e-tron will be available to order from March 2024 at a price of 74.700 and 93.800 euros and will be delivered to customers in the third quarter of 2024.
