Plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) combine the benefits of two drive technologies. While internal combustion engines offer long range, electric motors provide an alternative for locally emission-free driving on most day-to-day routes. In addition, in a PHEV, the electric drive supports the combustion engine in under partial load and contributes additional boost for faster acceleration. In designing its PHEV models, Audi is pursuing several goals: long and frequent stretches of electric driving, low overall energy consumption, simple charging management, and high suitability for everyday use.

Audi is rapidly expanding its range of plug-in hybrid models. The latest models of the A3 Sportback, Q3, and Q3 Sportback, as well as the Q8 complement the portfolio in the compact segment and full-size class. Their common strengths are a confident driving experience, straightforward charging management, and great everyday usability. These three strengths make up the fundamental target triangle in the development work for the plug-in hybrid models at Audi.

Compact hybrid with 245 PS system output: The Audi A3 Sportback 45 TFSI e

Audi continues its electrification campaign in the compact class: Presales of the A3 Sportback 45 TFSI e will start in Germany this week. The brand with the four rings is thereby complementing the A3 Sportback 40 TFSI e with a sporty model that has more power and more extensive equipment. Its plug-in hybrid drive has a system output of 180 kW (245 PS) and 400 Nm (295.0 lb-ft) of system torque.

Plug-in hybrid rounds off Q8 product line: The Audi Q8 TFSI e quattro

Electric range of up to 59 kilometers (36.7 mi) in the NEDC (47 kilometers (29.2 mi) in the WLTP cycle), a sporty character, and great everyday usability: Audi is presenting the Q8 with plug-in hybrid drive. The new model closes the last gap in the Q8 range and provides an innovative combination of efficiency and power. The SUV Coupé is available in two performance versions. The Q8 55 TFSI e quattro achieves a system output of 280 kW (381 PS). The Q8 60 TFSI e quattro even achieves a system output of 340 kW (462 PS).

A conventional internal combustion engine or a fully electric powertrain? There is a third answer to this fundamental question of modern mobility: PHEV – a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle or in short: a plug-in hybrid. Beautiful station wagons are called Avant – and are now also electrically driven and have zero local emissions. Following the A6 Sedan, the Audi full-size station wagon is now entering the market as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). The intelligent drive management with a predictive operating strategy enables the new Audi A6 Avant 55 TFSI e quattro** to achieve a high electric range, low fuel consumption and dynamic performance. The Audi A6 Avant PHEV has a comprehensive range of standard equipment on board, including the S line exterior package, Audi virtual cockpit, Matrix LED headlights as well as sport suspension and sport seats.

Step by step, Audi is putting its new electrified models on the road. Presales of the Q7 TFSI e quattro (combined fuel consumption in l/100 km*: 3.0–2.8; combined electric power consumption in kWh/100 km*: 22.9–21.9; combined CO2 emissions in g/km*: 69–64) have just started in Germany and other European countries. The SUV, whose plug-in hybrid drive combines a three-liter V6 gasoline engine with a powerful electric motor, is available in two power levels. The top-of-the-line version offers a system output of 335 kW (456 PS) and 700 Nm (516.3 lb-ft) of system torque (combined fuel consumption in l/100 km*: 3.0–2.8; combined electric power consumption in kWh/100 km*: 22.9–22.2; combined CO2 emissions in g/km*: 69–64), while the second version delivers 280 kW (381 PS) and 600 Nm (442.5 lb-ft) (combined fuel consumption in l/100 km*: 3.0–2.8; combined electric power consumption in kWh/100 km*: 22.4–21.9; combined CO2 emissions in g/km*: 69–64).
