Dr. Tarek Mashhour

The Audi Mexico plant is announcing important strategic changes for the Group and assigning Dr. Tarek Mashhour as Executive President of Audi Mexico as of November 1, 2020, succeeding Andreas Lehe, who will leave his position as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Audi Mexico on October 31, 2020, and assume the position of Head of Strategic Planning in Production at AUDI AG.

“We want to thank Andreas Lehe for his successful performance during his time as president of the Audi Mexico plant,” commented Peter Kössler, Board Member of Production and Logistics at AUDI AG. “Under the command of Andreas Lehe, Audi Mexico had very positive results, which he will no doubt continue to enjoy in his new role within the Group as Head of Strategic Planning in Production. Starting in November, Dr. Tarek Mashhour will take over in charge of this important position for the Audi Group at our San José Chiapa plant. We wish him every success regarding the challenges he will face at Audi Mexico,” he emphasized.

Dr. Tarek Mashhour has extensive experience within AUDI AG, occupying positions such as Head of Production of Corporate Functions or commissarial Head ofProduction Planning at the Ingolstadt plant. His resume also includes positions such as Head of Planning at the Audi plants in Neckarsulm, China and Lamborghini in Italy.

Subsequently, he was in charge of production planning for the Audi plants in Brussels, Belgium and Győr, Hungary, as well as the planning and implementation of the new Audi plant in San José Chiapa with a highly qualified team on site. As part of his journey through the Audi Group, Dr. Mashhour was also responsible, from September 2016, for AUDI AG’s production strategy, which includes key areas such as digitalization. He is currently the head of series production for electric models, a position he has held since October 2018.Undoubtedly, his skills will give Audi Mexico plant considerable global competence.

During Andreas Lehe’s leadership, which began in January 2019, Audi Mexico managed to produce the 555,555th Audi Q5. Under his leadership, the plant in Mexico achieved a production volume of 156,995 units in 2019, exceeding its production capacity for the third time in a row. In addition, the plant has been turned into a company that covers 100% of its electrical requirements with green energy.

In short, under the guidance of Mr. Lehe, Audi Mexico embarked on the path towards a new future of collaboration thanks to the structural reorganization of the plant, coupled with the new sustainability strategy Plant, People, Planet, whose vision it is to always be premium with its employees, the plant and the planet.

In addition to successful management of the factory during the health contingency resulting from coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, he also played a key role in the successful start of production of the optimized Audi Q5 for the global market, with the exception of the Chinese market, which produces this model locally.
