Audi lost all chances to score a good result in the 19th hour of the Nürburgring 24 Hours. Kelvin van der Linde was third overall in lap 113 when he lost the car in treacherous conditions at 9.42 a.m. Driving on intermediate tires, he slid off the track in the rain at the Hohe Acht section and touched the guardrail. Audi Sport Team Land changed the front splitter and other bodywork parts. Including the lap in which the accident happened, the number 1 needed 27m 54s to return to the track. After the incident, René Rast was eighth three laps down on the leader. So after 20 hours of racing, the number 3 Audi Sport Team Phoenix car was the best Audi R8 LMS in the field. Frédéric Vervisch was sixth overall. In the TCR class, Bonk Motorsport was on course for a podium after the retirement of the Prosport Performance car. Hermann Bock/Max Partl/Rainer Partl/Volker Piepmeyer held third position in the Audi RS 3 LMS.
