Audi Sport TT Cup, 24h Nürburgring
Dennis Marschall (D)

Dennis Marschall has won the first event in the Audi Sport TT Cup at the Nürburgring. In a fiercely fought race on the 4.638-kilometer Grand Prix configuration of the tradition-steeped circuit, the son of “Mister One-Make Cup,” Thomas Marschall, relegated Joonas Lappalainen and Christoph Hofbauer to positions two and three after 12 laps. Misfortune struck overall leader Sheldon van der Linde. Following an excursion on lap one, the young South African focused on limiting the damage, finished seventh and defended first place in the overall classification. The Audi Sport TT Cup is held this weekend as part of the 24-hour race in the Eifel. Round two will start on Saturday at 09:55.
