Audi Sport TT Cup, Nürburgring 2016
Emil Lindholm (FIN), Joonas Lappalainen (FIN), Gosia Rdest (PL)

Joonas Lappalainen has won the turbulent first round in the Audi Sport TT Cup at the Nürburgring. The Finn, who after two collisions in which he was not at fault had dropped to tenth place, made an impressive comeback and went on to cross the finish line in first place. Lappalainen’s compatriot Emil Lindholm and Gosia Rdest completed the podium in positions two and three. For the Pole, this was her first-ever podium place in the Audi Sport TT Cup. Less fortunate were Sheldon van der Linde and Dennis Marschall, who had been leading the race for a long time. The two drivers occupying the top spots in the standings fought some gripping duels with numerous spectacular overtaking maneuvers across long stretches of the race. But, following an incident of body contact, they had to let a few other rivals pass them. In the end, Marschall came in position five and van der Linde finished eighth. Marschall and Lappalainen are now heading the overall standings tied on 172 points. Van der Linde, with 163 points, completes the three-way battle in the Audi one-make cup.
