Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso has successfully mastered the last stage of preparing for his DTM race as a guest entrant. In the more than 610-hp Audi RS 5 DTM, the Italian MotoGP star completed a total of 183 laps at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. Long-time Audi DTM driver and two-time DTM Champion Mattias Ekström assisted the 33-year-old as a coach. The one and a half test days on the 4.226-kilometer race track not far from the Adriatic coast provided Dovizioso with a final opportunity to tune in to the Audi RS 5 DTM and the procedures of a DTM weekend before his DTM debut on June 8 and 9 at Misano. The Ducati factory rider had previously gathered initial experiences in the simulator at the Audi Competence Center in Neuburg a. d. Donau and done a short rollout in Audi Sport‘s DTM race car. “It was really important for me to test here at Misano, because the level is extremely high in the DTM and there are many things to manage while you’re at the wheel. With the help of the team and Mattias Ekström, I clocked many laps to get as close as possible to the front runners,” said Dovizioso.
