24h Nürburgring 2020

After an interruption of almost ten hours due to heavy rain, the 48th edition of the Nürburgring 24 Hours resumed this morning. With just four hours to run, Audi Sport customer racing fought for overall victory. As a result, the number 3 (Audi Sport Team Car Collection) was in first place. Last year's winner and start number 1 of Audi Sport Team Phoenix lies in eighth place after 20 hours. Number 5, privately entered by Phoenix Racing, was eleventh overall, followed by number 29 (Audi Sport Team Land), who lost 32 seconds this morning due to a time penalty (disregarding flag signals). However, both Audi R8 LMS were still on the same lap as the leaders. In 21st place was number 7 (Car Collection Motorsport). Apart from a purely precautionary gearbox change at #1 during the race interruption all Audi R8 LMS ran without any problems. The key to victory will now be the tyre strategy. Time and again, the rapidly changing Eifel weather with rain showers ensures a wide variety of track conditions.
