The name of the mission is title defense. No manufacturer has achieved this feat since the new vehicle concept with a carbon fiber monocoque and specification components was introduced in 2012 – Audi aims to be the first one. However, the car is not the only crucial factor for success. Fitness, team spirit and concentration are extremely important in racing. That’s why the training camp in Lanzarote is a key element for Audi’s DTM squad in preparing for the new season. However, the six Audi factory drivers, Loïc Duval, Robin Frijns, Jamie Green, Nico Müller, René Rast and Mike Rockenfeller, are not only engaged in a challenging sports program. In focus, too, is the cohesion of the Audi DTM team, which is essential for Head of Audi Motorsport Dieter Gass. “We’re only going to have the chance of continuing last year’s successes with that specific kind of team spirit,” says Gass. “That’s why the week here in Lanzarote is very important for us.” The training program on the volcanic Canary Island was led by Le Mans record winner Tom Kristensen, supported by team physician Dr. Vincenzo Tota and mental coach Adrian Dunskus.
