Zwickau
Various VW models have been built at Volkswagen Sachsen in Zwickau since 1990. Over the past years, the site has been converted for the production of electric vehicles and thus into a net carbon-neutral multi-brand plant. Production of the fully electric Audi Q4 e-tron SUV started in March 2021. The production in Zwickau also represents a return to the roots of the Four Rings.

The Audi Q4 e-tron’s success story: in its transition to electromobility, Audi is turning to synergies within the whole group
Strong together: In its transformation to emissions-free mobility, Audi is relying on the synergy effects within the Volkswagen Group. During a media visit to the multi-brand factory in Zwickau, Germany, Peter Kössler, Audi Board Member for Production and Logistics, and Dr. Stefan Loth, Chairman of the Board of Volkswagen Saxony GmbH, emphasized how intensely the sister companies are benefiting from their close collaboration. Thanks also to shared platforms like the modular electric drive system (MEB), Audi will have more than 20 fully electric models on the market by 2025. -
Start of production for Audi Q4 e-tron
Audi goes “back to its roots”: In Zwickau in Saxony, the birthplace of this long-standing German company, production of the Audi Q4 e-tron has finally started. The fully electric compact model is the first electric SUV to be produced by Audi in Germany. The Q4 e-tron features a Volkswagen-made modular electric drive matrix (MEB), a highly versatile and variable platform that is suitable for numerous fully electric models and offers considerable scope for leveraging synergies.
