Forward-looking investment: today Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, and Alfons Dintner, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria, officially announced the expansion of the tool shop in Győr at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As part of the investment, the current production hall will be expanded by 3,800 square meters for exclusive series production, and the logistics hall will be expanded by 2,500 square meters. The investment will help to retain the jobs of 700 employees and increase the exclusive production capacity by 30 percent. The Hungarian government is also playing a role in the expansion of the Audi production site in Győr.

"We consistently invest in the future of our company, in which our tool shop plays an important, strategic role. We are pleased about the high demand for highly complex aluminum body parts in our exclusive series, a testament to the professionalism, competence and many years of experience of our tool shop. With the current expansion, we are preparing for a higher production volume and further new projects," says Alfons Dintner, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI HUNGARIA Zrt.

In the tool shop currently developes press tools and body shop equipment on 52,000 square meters for use in series production. In addition, the exclusive series production produces almost all body parts for the Audi and Volkswagen Group's 40,000 sporty models every year - the Audi RS models, the Audi R8, the new Audi e-tron GT and the Lamborghini and Bentley models.

"Over the years, our tool shop has become the flagship of Audi Hungaria. Last year, we started to produce almost all body parts for the brand new Audi e-tron GT in our tool shop. With the expansion, we can contribute to the production of even more premium cars from Győr," says Les Zoltán, Member of the Board of Management, responsible for vehicle production at Audi Hungaria.

Doors, fenders, hoods, tailgates, and roof and side elements are manufactured in flexible robot cells, which allow a large number of change possibilities, and a fast, automated change of activities by using digital solutions such as RFID chips. In the expanded hall, new special robot cells will be commissioned primarily for the production of hoods and doors.

"The wide range of the most complex body parts and the high flexibility required to produce them make our work unique and ensure our success," says Anton Habermeier, head of toolmaking at Audi Hungaria.

Construction work on the 6,300-square-meter expansion will begin shortly, and expected to completed in summer 2022.
