Logistics is a field with a future, and on this special day Audi will give an overview of its broad range of logistics activities under the heading “Automotive Logistics with Success and Passion”. As Dr. Ernst-Hermann Krog, Head of Brand Logistics at Audi, notes: “This day will offer a superb opportunity for giving potential junior staff an understanding of the importance of logistics. That’s why we want visitors to check out the different subareas and fields of activity.”
In a series of lectures with concrete examples, Audi will afford visitors insight into the planning and control of its customer order process, among other procedures. “Our entire work is geared to the customer – with the focus on short delivery times, reliable delivery dates and high flexibility for special requests,” Krog explains.
In addition, various discovery tours will illustrate the logistical highlights at the Ingolstadt car maker: One of these will explain the shipment of parts to locations abroad, while the guided tour on “Transport Logistics at Audi” will outline the distribution of new cars. Other presentations include the material flow from raw materials in the press shop to the installed single part in the body shop, and the complex, precise sequencing of delivery processes in the case of wheel production for the Audi A3 production area.
Students interested in entering the field of Audi logistics are invited to attend the presentation on “Students at Audi”. There people will be on hand to answer questions about such things as internships, entry-level programs and diploma theses.
In parallel with the event in Ingolstadt, Audi will be offering an additional program in Neckarsulm, to include a guided tour of R8 assembly with the focus on logistics. AUDI AG will also be maintaining a stand on the “Student’s Day in the Ruhr Logistics Metropolis” in Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park. Around 6,000 students are expected to attend this event, where visitors can attend the podium discussion on “Career Opportunities in Logistics”, for example, and raise questions on subjects like brand logistics and available jobs in Audi Logistics.
Logistics is a core competence of German industry. “We want to bring this promising profession to life with our action program,” says Krog. Together with the German Logistics Association (BVL), the main initiator of the Logistics Day, and other prominent companies, associations, organizations and universities, Audi intends to increase public awareness of this segment and in particular to stimulate young people to start a career in logistics.
